Any chance you can put them in some sort of order on your site? As it
stands it's hard to compare it with my own list (or the one on
RogueBasin). I have recorded 46 successes.

I have 47 :/

Any chance you can sort the list alphabetically and split into won/
lost/runaway so I can compare?

Okay, you're missing Bane of the Living by Derrick Creamer (which I
have no files for yet), Gunfist by Jo (was only announced on your
forums), Hitmen for Destiny by Timofei Shatrov and Pack-man by Nate.
You also have "Holohoax" mis-spelled.

I was missing XIOATANK (downloaded now).

So does that mean we have 48 successes? Good lord...

You intended on reviewing a portion of these, Slash? I'd love to
help.

Ya, I noticed my entry, "Pack-man" missing and became quite sad :P
Hopefully it's added.

There's an incredible amount of successes this year!

Great job everyone!

I am thinking on calling for a 7DRL valuation comitee, so we can play
each game and give our score with some guidelines, helping people sort
out through the heap! will publicize the idea tonight...

Ah, I was missing ChaosRL. I got confused because your link to the
game on the list points to MazeBand. 49 indeed - amazing!

Sounds good. I'm sure there'd be plenty of volunteers so we could
divvy them up a bit. I'm not so fussed about scoring the games, more
just giving everyone an overview so they can know which games they'd
like to play. 49 games is a lot for everyone to test out!

Maybe assign each judge x random games, or assign each game y random
judges? 49 games are to many games for one person to review IMO.

Seeing as you've picked 14 other judges beside yourself, randomly
picking 3 judges for each game mean each of us would have a 20% chance
to review any particular game, or about 10 games each on average.

There's no game called "Hitmen for Destiny", it's a webcomic. My game is
called "Destiny Rogues" and it is included in Slash's list.

I'm looking forward to reading some of these reviews. I will be happy
to help once I return from the Alps (week after next).

It would be cool to put together a summary page and then perhaps we
could go for some publicity, slashdot or similar? The 7DRL was pretty
big this year and there are some cool games.

It'd also be nice to collect the exes/archives somewhere. I've often
gone back to old 7DRL competitions and found lots of the links broken.

Good idea. Not sure how big a zip of all entries would become, but I
guess it shouldn't be that big. I can put it up on the roguebasin server
if someone already have collected all of the entries and would like to
send them to me.

I have all games collected on my HD. The total size uncompressed
comes to 213 Mb. As a rar it comes to 92 Mb. Perhaps setting up a
torrent would be best?

Torrents tend to die after a while...

You mean for lack of seeders?

I think a 7drl torrent is something enough r.g.r.d people would be
willing to leave seeding for approximately as long as they would be
willing to host it :>

It would be very cool to also build such an archive with what is left
of previous years before any more bit rot sets in.

Indeed, there's enough of a community to keep them alive.

Indeed, though that is a bit of a bigger project.

Should I make a torrent with what I've got now then? I'd like to
quickly test the whole bundle works, of course... But then many of
the "to be compiled" ones are trickier to test. Perhaps once the
reviews are all done I'll feel more confident about providing the
files.

I would gladly host it effectively forever at a trickle upload.

If bandwidth is a concern, I can host the file on a webserver. Most
services give you over a gigabyte of bandwidth per month, so I doubt
even at 92 MB it's going to cause a problem.

Just an observation, but it might not be a bad idea to wait for a week
or so and collect the bug fix versions of the games, if possible.
Also, technically, most of the games are not "officially" licensed in
a manner that would allow their free distribution, technically. I've
been compiling a list and sorting the various binaries and sources out
in the thought of building a torrent too, so I can lend a hand if you
need it.

This is my first 7DRL, so I'm not sure how people normally respond to
the entries... I've been commenting on individual threads, but I'm
also going to start a series of blog posts with short reviews and
screenshots. Fortunately, there are a lot of good titles to review!

You're worried about legal distribution of a torrent? ;)

If any bugfix versions are forthcoming it could be worth be worth
adding them, but normally these don't appear until people actually
start playing the games and finding the bugs :) We'll see how it
goes... I think the usual post-competition playing period is going to
go on a little longer than usual this year.

Why not?

torrent != piracy

I suggest e-mailing anyone who hasn't attached a license to their 7DRL,
to check they're happy with what you're doing. Not that I can imagine
anyone saying no.

Mine is GPL'd, and if you have any concerns with that I'd be happy to
re-release it under another license.

I did not include any sort of license with my 7DRL (Ravenous) but I
have no problem with it being distributed via torrent, and I've
already posted a new version with bug fixes (http://
steevolution.wordpress.com). Additionally, I could leave the torrent
seeding anytime my machine is online.
