YAVP, Testar DE Farmer (ULE)

My first win after trying out 1.1.1 over 1.0.0

I don't know if the item destruction is higher in 1.1.1, but I
experienced an extremely high rate of destroyed gear compared to my
numerous previous games. Swear to god every time i got near an acid
trap or vortex i would take out half my stuff in the early game. I
went into ToEF with 3 (THREE!) blessed blankets only to have two of
them toast before I even entered the Wyrms room. I consider three
fireproof blankets a literal BOON to a mid twenty character. Can't
imagine this is usual.
Despite the setbacks I was rewarded with an abnormal amount of
artifacts and wishes (6 total) so no real sweat on the brow tbh.
Precrowns was Scorched Spear and the leather armor. A good polearm
onehander is pure win for a dragon-born farmer.
On the out of usual track I did not have 50 deaths on my highscore yet
and despite tampering with the mana orb I couldn't "fish" the two
light corruptions rendering the quickling tree and bugville shut. So I
decided to use a different approach altogether - I farmed the
wilderness. I am a farmer after all :). In particular I went for the
following
Chaos Warlords (good L boost, good XP)
Chaos Entourage (simply kill the chaos knights, grab the eternium gear
and run away)
Ogre Army (kill Magus' with "of hunting" something for Ma - or the lot
if you farm strength)
Quickling Raiding Party (the ones I was after to begin with)
Black Unicorns (use "of hunting". corpses give a PoCC from Guth'Alak)
This is a corruption free endeavor. I works best (only!) if you have
on demand Doom through a "of damnation" something and 7LB. With this
combo you get encounters on 75% of the moves on the Pyramid road
tiles. NOTE that if you give Guth'Alak a STACK of unicorn corpses he
only gives you ONE potion. So give him the corpses individually.
I wasted a wish on Boots of the Slow Shuffle. The speed gain from
corpses is limited by your BASE value and not CURRENT - unlike
everything else.
I didn't use Garth. I tried not to walk around with too much cash,
saccing it for piety along the way. A YASD where a lich cursed my
girdle of greed still haunt my memories.

On the differences between 1.0 and 1.1 - I find the rapid escalation
of critter experience to be annoying, especially for those you cannot
by any logic AVOID. Spiders, rats, wolves and jackals - who cares. But
regular Chaos Servants hitting HARDER than Andor Drakon is a JOKE! The
talents are nice, but lacks balance. Some are relative (i.e. 10%
higher damage per energy on missile attacks), while others are
absolute (+1 damage on melee. which is this win translates to about
0.5% more damage per energy). Treasure Hunter is too imbalanced as
well. The other talents needs a serious beefing to make me consider
NOT taking this. The remaining enhancements works nicely. I like you
have to work a bit more for stats. Would have liked to see the
improoved bug cave, but as said - no can do.

I have (in rec.games.roguelike.adom style) placed the remaining
comments in the .flg file itself.

If you had been doomed, that never would have happened : ) I did a bit of
testing a while back, and found that a single uncursed fireproof blanket
usually lasts several thousands of turns in the tower, as long as you are
doomed. The same blanket is lucky to last over a hundred turns if your
not cursed or doomed. Makes perfect sense, right? Right? : )

The TH talent only gives an extra 1 item per ~10 kills, so it's not
really as great as it first seems. The standard item drop rate seems to
be more than adaquate for my needs, and I consider the speed and PV
talents much better for the early game.

Do I read right, that you fed the CoS to the rat, and kept the Phial?
I think the CoS is cool, and usually only get rid of it as a last resort.

Hhmm. Well the last blanket did last long enough to dispatch 30
elementals and the wyrm itself. Of course at that time I had left
everything but important corpses and !oEH behind so the disaster would
have been limited. I never ever even once found a =oIce. Not one was
generated the entire game. Even with a ring shop directly above the UD
branch. I'll consider he crown next time. You can just use piety to
uncurse it. Doesn't use up too much piety.

That still approximates double item generation in "ordinary"
circumstances. Logically it doesn't affect dragon hoards, shops,
pickpocketing nor "great treasure" digs. Still the premise of the game
is to obtain the gear you need to counteract any specific situation.
And to this end this talent simply owns. Also I dont rate PV that
high. Not enough to talent for it.

At that time I had everything except the farmer corpse. So it worked a
bit like this. Go C. Feed the rat. Give Gaab stuff. Kill farmer. Give
Gaab the rest of the stuff. Give beggar 100 stomafilia. Sac the
remaining superflouous artifacts for piety. I would NEVER have gotten
rid of the crown of science if i hadn't gotten crown of leadership on
D:24 already. Also as DE i couldn't get any money out of si's since
the three mixed shops give a ludicrous low price on items. So
artifacts worked out like a nice piety booster.
