Now what to play fo rthis week?
Todd S.
Then I played LOTR since I usually shy away from it in league play but
since I had the good Paragon score I played...
Had the 1st ball trapped in the ring during DTR on ball 1 (actually
the 2nd ball because I got the EB on the 1st ball) and missed several
shots to knock it out.
Also ended the game with all modes played and needing to light the
ring for TABA, but to no avail... anyway, another good game (for me)
129,525,010.
Eat that.
I can eat that - it's just a snack size score anyway! What's for
lunch?! LOL
Nice games Zach!

We have such a long weekend ahead of us so I am going to stretch it
out a bit and post another score later on.
PromoJoe, post a Godzilla score already!
dcerny, I expect you to post a GL score tonight! Maybe my 2nd score
should come from your CG?
TBK - we should save next week's games for CAX and get you on some
early SSs for a change. :-)

Ok...We are going to be busy all weekend with family picnic and such
so we played our games a bit early!! ;-)
Ready pilot 1???
Here are Lar's scores...on Space Shuttle

Finally I have a decent game...Space Shuttle really came thru for me,
after the major CHOKE on the first game, I was getting worried on the
second game, I had 5XX,XXX on my last ball...but I pulled this one out
for a good score!!
This was the first pin in our collection, and one we used to play alot
way back when we were dating....:-)
Ok Tax(Shrek)man...you were just barely below me before...but how low

That's better, although ball 3 ended with me stupidly watching the ball
roll off a flipper instead of flipping..... DUH!!!
-scott CARGPB#29
I do that sometimes too, I don't know what it is. I just freeze up and
sit there and watch the ball drain! Also another way I lose a lot of
balls is I have a tendency to let a ball bounce off one flipper to the
other before flipping to try and get a better shot or something I
don't know, and so many times it doesn't bounce to the other flipper,
just bounces enough to go right down the middle and I feel so stupid!
This game can really get you sometimes!
Tom
I think that's what I was after, trying to get some more W-H-O for an
extra ball, it didn't bounce as much as I'd hoped off the right flipper
and landed on the tip of the left flipper, I had plenty of time to flip
though and just watched it roll down...... duh......
-scott CARGPB#29
Hmm, that's never happened to me ;)
Played JP today to keep the variety going.
First game of the day, going in cold seems to work for me more often
than not.
However I am not good at this game.
It went much better than usual scoring multiple jackpots and earning
extra ball.
Funny thing was TRex stopped working and during tri-ball the right
flipper went dead causing me to loose 2 balls.
It came right back, but something is screwed up.

So very pissed I switched to Monster Bash without knowing the median
but I knew it was high (for me). I called the game and accidentally
hit start twice so I was stucking playing both games at once. Player
one was doing best until the last ball. Got Monster Bash on both and
both ended with Frank's keyboard away from Monster Of Rock.

Sorry for the ramble, st least I broke the median this week.

Did my scores this morning, just found time to post them
Started on Elvis, balls one and two were garbage, 7m at the beginning
of ball three. Got an extra ball lit from the pops and when collecting
that EB, I lit the gift EB which was nice, did everything towards
Graceland except collect one gift DOH! Got my best ENCORE score of
40.5m giving me a total score of 184,450,040
Next up was a qualifying score for Indy 500, mine is set up really
hard and it generally kicks my backside, today was no different
232,493,050 was my score with a decent ball 3 recovery to make the
score half respectable
Game 2 was Shadow, tilted a 100m+ bonus on ball one, did everything to
get Final Battle lit on next two balls, then promptly drained giving
me 1,008,141,810

Last night on Gorgar? 581,xxx one or my best 3 ball games on this one!
Got an extra ball, got the roving bonus twice got the special at least
once, and was just on fire on this game, I thought the score would be
higher but for 3 ball Gorgar I was pretty happy with that score, too
bad I can't use that, but I have to keep it real...
Good luck all and hope you all had a happy and safe holiday!

No choice in machines this week, I had to borrow time on someone
else's Firepower, the same Firepower that was good to me last week.
This week was even better.
Game 1: 1,118,040 (I did a little victory dance after this score;
thankfully, no camcorders were present)
Game 2: 358,910

Yeah, the scores seem pretty close on this one, I thought I might
still have the high on that one because I got a little more than I did
last time. In practice a couple weeks ago I got 97 thousand something
so I know I can still do better! Was a no brainer for 4th of July play
though. I'll probably go to Gorgar next week since I spanked it so
well in practice this week!

Widebody Weekend
Game #1 - Paragon - 501,230 -- Without a doubt, the finest Widebody of
the 1980s. Nothing gets the adrenaline pumping like the 5X bonus on
Paragon. Few moments are as satisfying as smacking the spinner with a
perfect shot. I survived multiple entrances into the Beast's Lair.
Inline targets are so, so cool.
Game #2 - Twilight Zone - 1,315,877,200 -- I've been playing TZ a lot
the last 2 months. I figured I would add TZ to my league play since I
have been dancing around LITZ for the past 6-7 games. I knew I was
due. And I was right! I ripped through the doors thanks to 4 straight
power victories on ball one. By the end of ball 1, I needed only 3
doors to get to LITZ. Ball 2 might as well have kicked me in the
nuts. If not for a lucky shot into the piano, I would still have
needed 3 doors after ball 2. Ball 3 did not let me down. Seeing the
DMD go crazy never gets old or boring. LITZ is still my absolute
favorite wizard mode.

For this weeks RGPL game I gave the new league kid a shot and played
our Doctor Who.
DW game 1: 468,792,430 I achieved multiball twice and made two
rounds of the video mode. Ball times felt long and I kinda felt like
my score should have been double it's actual outcome- I guess I wasn't
hitting the right shots. My best game of my 2 attempts.
DW game 2: 374,418,940 I fought this one hard and had a bunch of
post shots and had to dig a couple of SDTM shots with my puny
lightning flippers. Only made multiball once and one completed video
mode. Lots of work to keep the ball alive on this game.
Again, Have a happy & safe 4th!

Lightning flippers? What settings are you playing? Is the glass on?
Might be time to sell mine, I am obviously missing something. : (
I don't have lightning flippers...but the back legs are all the way
up, I made the video mode harder, and reduced the amount of time you
have to get the Castle lock. I just had an extremely lucky 3-stacked
multiball run where I was killing Drac over and over and killing the
Succubi over and over, and almost as soon as it ended, I'd get another
multiball started quickly, and again was just jamming the jackpots. I
had 49 loops (left ramp shots) in that game, so Mist Ball kept
lighting. Dude, it was just crazy...
Greg
Just blown away by the score, very impressive. : )
I don't think anyone is cheating, I do question, and this has nothing
to do with this particular score, weather there are people that just
play game after game, and when they get a killer score count that as
their tournament game... I practice and practice and have some really
killer games in practice but when I decide ok here I go I'm playing my
tournament games I do just that and play 2 games in consession and
post those scores good or bad...
I do often question if people are really doing this and not playing
until they get the scores thay want...that would really dissapoint me
and ruin this for all of us...
The honour system needs to work so let's all be honest!
Thanks,
Tom

Everyone knows that you have to decide BEFORE when it's your tourney games.
Obviously it wouldn't be much like tourney play if we all just played a
bunch and reported our highest score. I'm confident that everyone is doing
it right and reporting their correct scores. That's how it's like a
tournament in person, if you were in person, you'd have to step up when you
are ready and play your game(s). Same thing here, only you decide when that
is.
Besides, I didn't want to divulge this but I have hidden cameras planted in
everyone's game room to verify they are doing it right.
PZ
Thanks... I suppose I'd be doing worse w/ lightning flippers, but my
game came w/ regular ones...dunno if that's how sample games came, or
if the previous owner had changed them. If anyone has some yellow
lightning flippers to sell, I'll gladly change mine out for Taylor's
sake. :)
I see some scores people are getting on some games, NGG in
particular- that I have never even been remotely close to. I think
my high on NGG is about 80 mil..but my average "good" game is around
30 or 40 ...and usually it's much lower.
On Drac, I either do shitty or get in the zone w/ multiballs. if it
makes you feel any better, I just played again and was only getting
like 30 mil or so. For some reason, I play better in the morning. My
league games this week and last w/ my crazy FGY score were just me
waking up, stretching, and playing my first game....and me going "WTF,
no one's gonna believe this". Juju was my witness last week..she was
trying to leave to do some errands -and I made her wait and watch my
FGY game, as I thought I was going to get to Sperm Attack and
well..that's something you want to share w/ the one you love! :)
Greg
My secret Gameroon camera Pic, me waving at zach....hi zach!!! let me

Oops sorry! :)
I have to say, I'm sorry for even questioning, and I really believe
that everyone's being cool about this too...
I regret posting that, as I know it was not what is happening...
RGPL is fun, and all seem to be in it for that reason to have fun...
I appologize for even going there!!!
Tom
I thought the rule was one practice and then your 2 games.
I write all my scores down anyway, so when I declare on a game, I play
one practice and 2 tournament games (unless the first one is great/so
bad I switch to another machine and play it cold.)
I don't play any practice games right beforehand, but the day before I
might play.
-scott CARGPB#29
I think what you will find is that with regular length flippers as
compared to lightning is that it will be much easier to hit the left
ramp, but more difficult to hit the mystery hole. There was a game
setup that way at Pinball Fantasy a few years ago and I remember that
about playing it. Overall, I found the game to be easier to beat once
I just kept going after the left ramp over and over again.
Brian Bannon
1,124,329,020
First score was only around 300 mil, but somehow it didn't save in my
phone after I had typed it in, so onlt the one score to officially
post, but I did play my 2 games.
The bottom line is that you play two games for the league. You have to
declare ahead of time (in your head or out loud if you like talking to
yourself) that "these next two are my tournament games". Then you live or
die with the scores whatever they may be. This is as opposed to playing
many games and choosing your best scores - that's not what we do.
As far as practice/warm-up goes, you can do anything you'd like. You can
play your league games cold with no warm-up or practice for hours without
declaring your tournament games to warm-up as much as you'd like. However,
once you decide "this is it" , "these are my tournament games" - there's no
going back - you play your games and post the great and not-so-great scores.
Think of it just like it was an in-person tournament. You can practice as
much or little as you'd like ahead of time, but once it's your turn and you
step up to the tournament machines to play your tournament games, they count
and that's it.
Except for Shrexman who gets to play as much as he wants and multiply his
best score by four.
PZ
I doubt if there are two games that are setup the same across the
RGPL. Some are setup relatively easy and some are setup hard. I had
my BSD at Pinbrawl a couple of years ago and it ate everyone to pieces
due to the setup. I don't think anyone broke 300 million during the
whole tournament and this is with top ranked players taking it on!
Same with NGG, scores at my house over 50 million are unusual, for
anyone. OTOH, I think my Centaur just plays real easy, not sure why.
So, when playing in the RGPL, I don't play BSD or NGG as I can't come
close to those scores.
As far as if anyone cheats on their scores, I would like to think that
people would be honest about it.
One thing is for sure, everyone in the RGPL should go to PAPA next
month and measure themselves against the world's best players and see
how they stack up. In fact, it would be great that if there are
people there they can grab one of the practice bank machines for their
league submission. Maybe even a little head to head play with other
RGPL players in attendance. I would say use one of the A,B, or C
division bank machines, but those are setup insanely hard, especially
in A division.
Brian Bannon
Games this week were on Meteor. Really couldn't put together three
good balls.
Game #1 592,440--one good ball with two not so good.
Game #2 81,050--real ugly with two fast side drains
Brian Bannon
Thanks for clarifying, I think it's good to make this clear once in a
while.
I practice on Friday and Saturday and usually post on Sunday. This
week I had an extra day off so I practiced on thursday and friday. I
do play one or two warm ups and as you said I stop and declare, this
is it the next two games are tourney games and count good or bad. I
would like to think we all do this and I feel kind of bad about
questioning that anyone would break this rule but now that I think
about it I think it's good to bring this up once in a while to remind
people how honesty really makes this fun, If that falls off then it's
really not worth the time!
Good luck all and thanks for listening to my opinions. Zach, you do a
great job. I've said it before but the RGPL tournament really helps
make owning and maintaining machines fun, and worthwhile...
Tom
Greg, don't do anything for my sake. ; )
I would suggest you get some lightning flippers as you have obviously
mastered the game
with the regular ones. I was simply blown away by your score.
According to a high score list for BSD you have
one of the top ten American BSD scores to date. I'm just impressed and
glad you're in the masters division.
I'm blown away by a lot of the scores in this league. Just makes me
want to practice more when I realize I'm not
any where near the player that I sometimes think I am.

Actually had the compass complete except for Davey Jones. Got to him
twice, but could not defeat him. Thought for sure I did, but I guess
I'm not quite sure how you beat him (I thought I did kill the
Kraken...do you have to kill both the Kraken and Jones?).
And now, for a bit of champions division trash talk. This goes to the
idiot that bought a new machine, then played it as a tournament game
within days of having it. You know, dummy, you would probably be real
close to the top of the scoreboard if you hadn't made such a rookie
mistake in the first week. You sir, are a bonehead.
Oh wait...that was me! Ah well, there's always next tournament! ;)
RD
Yeah, maybe it's time to make the switch for the challenge of it. But
still ,w/ this score - I really do consider part of it just insane
luck. I don't consider myself a consistent player, although I have a
"feel" for some games over others. I've had BSD for a few years
now...so - this is just one game in hundreds or thousands....and, I'm
sure if I played a different BSD, things would be different, as each

I know what you mean, I don't consider myself a great player either
but once in a while you just get going and have that game that seems
to go on and on and on. I've had a few of those games and I start
running around the house to tell the wife and she's like so...I'm like
you won't beleive the score I just got on Gorgar or whatever and she's
like ...whatever... I know I'll get one of those games eventually and
be able to post it for the RGPL... everyone will be like yeah right
you got what? Hey it happens, average players get superhuman scores
from time to time, you get in the zone and it just happens...another
reason I just keep hitting that start button!
Tom
Question - when does the bonus point for new high game get assigned,
week by week or at the end?
Seems I'm missing a couple points unless it's at the end ;)
-scott CARGPB#29
Bonus points for high scores get assigned after the 5th week. You
only get a bonus point for high scores if you set the score during the
5 week league play AND your high score is still standing at the end of
the 5th week.
Marcus
Well said Xerico, the score still has to be standing at the end, that
way it's always at risk and up in the air as anyone might beat it and
take your point away b4 the end of the 5th week. Therefore, the point
for setting the new high is only awarded at the end. (One for each
high you set during the tourney that still stands)
