Since I won't be getting the game for a little while, I'm hoping that
somebody can post impressions. I'm especially interested in how the
tables look and sound in higher definition, and general reviews of the
three new tables -- MM, NGG, and TOTAN.
Thanks.
Played it for my PSP and even the graphics ROCKED on that little
screen.
In fact you could play it in LONG view and hold your PSP vertical. I
am snagging it on the 360 now to see the differences... i will report
back tomorrow morning :-)

Only thing I'm not digging are the controls. I like the "flipper in
each hand feeling" I got from the Wii. I'm sure I'll get used to it.
Going to play some games on TOTAN right now. Will rock it over the
home theater system tomorrow afternoon.

No way is PinMAME even close in regards to physics. I played this for
a couple of hours while meeting with Crave (the publisher) back in
June. They had a real Medieval Madness there and the game and I was
pretty surprised at how well it captured the feel of the actual
machine. Obviously it's going to be a little less random than a real
machine, but it was the best I've ever played as far as video pinball
goes.

Did they lose the constant ball-rolling sound that was way too loud on
earlier versions?
I had the same issue with newegg. Our orders are definitely cancelled.
I emailed them and they responded with an offer for $10 off the new
price, which brings it back to the pre-order price.
newegg won't have stock until Sep. 30, so I went over to amazon and
ordered for $29.50, with free shipping.
Thanks for the info. I just did the same thing -- ordered from Amazon.
I figure I'll have it sooner this way, and there's also a chance that
Newegg will never be able to get their act together on this particular
item for whatever reason. And that's worth the extra $.50 or whatever
it is.
Has anyone seen it in stores yet? I haven't been able to find it here
in Canada. Apparently, the Wii and PSP versions were tough to find
when they came out last year. Crave Entertainment, you suck at product
launches!
I didnt notice. I'll have to check it out later tonight. I want to say
its not there, as I probably would have picked up on that.
Its funny as I was playing WW, the first thought in my head is they
have the wrong plunger spring in there....when you plunge the ball
goes all the way around the loop, when it shouldnt :)
I just ordered the XB360 version - I had the choice of this or the PS3
version, but it seems from the first reviews coming in that the XB360
version is superior. It sounds like the PS3 version has some lag time
on the flipper action (which would completely ruin the game, IMHO). I
hope this is just a PS thing and not for all platforms.
I got mine yesterday from EBGames (PS3). I'm in Newfoundland.

You're right, PINMAME has worse physics, but the physics in this Crave
title are not the high bar. Have you played the Pro Pinball series? It
(minus the first of four tables) is available on gog.com if you
haven't. That's still the standard for pinball simulation IMO (and
I've played just about all of them). But really, the physics in PHOF
are good enough -- my main gripe is with the graphics, which are piss
poor considering the hardware behind them. It clearly suffers from
being ported from less powerful consoles and/or not enough development
muscle. I had high hopes, and they were shot down.
Same here. Pre-ordered a week ago but it just shipped today. :-(
I agree the jet bumper souns are off.I am digging me some Taxi,That
game is fun.My WW plunger shot wraps around ramp by the way.Rick
Been playing with it all day (on 360). I really dig it. The bumping/
nudging is VERY effective (almost a little too effective) you can get
some really long play times in there. With that being said i have
pretty big tv 52" 120hz lcd and i still feel like i can never find a
camera angle that satisfies me...

EB Games is the only place that seems to stock it. I picked up a copy
(PS3) in Edmonton yesterday - one of three that store got in.
I don't know about you guys, but I really hope we get some DLC tables
for this game. I'd love to see some other classic Williams tables.
Unfortunately I think the chances of seeing licensed tables are slim,
which is a shame (ST:TNG, how I'd love to see a digital version of
you).

It's not a lag on the PS3 version, it's a loss of connection or
something. You'll press the button to hold the flipper up, then it'll
drp down for a split second, which, of course, sends your ball
shooting off somewhere. It's a hit-and-miss issue as well - I
encountered it about 10 times in the first 4 games I played, then not
again for hours and hours. It's not just the flippers either because
I've experienced the same problem with the plunger as well. Very
frustrating, and I hope they correct this with a patch.
I have had this hooked up to my 55" Hitachi and 42" Mits widescreen
rear projection tvs. HDMI through the Hitachi looks INSANE, but there
is a lag noticable when flipping. That is the fault of the tv. Most
newer tvs have GAME MODE that takes care of the lag. There are other
settings on some tvs that also help get rid of the lag. You should
Google your set if you're dealing with that problem. My 42" Mits has
no HDMI inputs. Using the component cables and there is blur/fuzz, NOT
crystal clear. Fault of the tv, not the game.
There is a flipper problem in some of the games. Happens most to me in
Gorgar. The flippers just do what they want sometimes. Not cool.
Nothing beats the real thing, but IMO, only the real thing beats this.
For $30???

Mine finally shipped! :)
And for those asking about the PSP version...I like it for a fun
portable goof, but it can be hard to tell what you are doing due to
the small screen size. Especially when the camera pulls back for a
full table view during multiball. Otherwise I'd say they physics are
the same as the Wii version
I did like the Wii controls better, as it felt more natural with a
flipper in each hand, but I'm getting used to the PS3 controls. The
extra games and the much better graphics are worth playing this one
over the old version.
Well, I pre-orderred mine on newegg and it was scheduled for release
on 9/22. I got mine on 9/24!! That was fast!! Well, I was pumped to
play MM on it since i can't afford the real deal and I thought it
would be cool to play it on the PS3. Well, I must say that I thinnk
pinmame is better than this. I think the pinmame table looks more
realistic and I was reeally disappointed with the graphics, and yes I
am running it through my HDMI cable with 1080P display. I don't really
like the camera angles, but I am getting used to them. The game play
is not bad, and I don't experienc any lag at all, but when the ball
goes around the orbit and back to the flippers, it seems like the ball
is going WAY too fast down by the flippers. I guess it's ok for
playing MM when I don't have the real deal. Deffinately not the same
as the real thing. I will agree with the no reflections on the
ball....doesn't really look like a real ball.....I guess I expected
more from the PS3 graphics. One thing I do really like is the fact
that I hear WAY more of the quotes on the game than while I play the
real thing. Don't know if it is because there are other noises when I
play the real deal or what but I like that. It also helps to learn the
rules of the game a little more for when I play the real deal, so that
is nice.
I tried other tables and as far as playability goes, here's what I
have so far:
MM = pretty good and pretty easy to play
NGG = not very easy to play...don't even bother trying to read the
wheel...I couldnt at least. That's ok, since I have a NGG I can play
instead. :)
Firepower = sounds are a little off I think, but it plays pretty good
TOTAN= Pretty hard to play if you don't already know the table. I
think the ramps are too clear since they are hard to
see.....disapointed in this one
Gorgar = pretty good
That's all I've played so far. i guess my final comment would be, it's
fun to bat the ball around to get a taste of playing MM, but I'm still
going to buy the real deal someday.....this will just get me through
until then. :) Was it worth the $28 I spent on it......yeah, I'd say
it was, but I was still a little disapointed. Oh well, that's my
opinion......

I have the PS3. It's not bad at all. Would have liked to shake to
nudge, I keep doing instinctively! Overall it plays better than the
Zen Pinball as it has a better feel. Graphics are much sharper but one
never seems to have a TV quite large enough, so all that detail can
get still get lost. Ball is slightly too zippy unless they're using
better wax than me ;)
I noticed that here (as on the Wii version) they got the sound wrong
on Firepower a slight shame as multiball is a bit of a non event.
However it's region free I so am glad to be enjoying this title early
in France! DLC would be great but I wont hold my breath...

Beyond that, I cannot get my super jets to count towards the table
goals on MM. I have gotten to the 2nd level of jets now twice, with
completing the 1st level. Nothing. Has anybody else had this glitch
happen?
