I've looked at many of the patents in my lunch hour at work many times
and have come to the conclusion that they are that great (Especially
when only you, Stern and maybe Gene is making pinball's). I'd bet
some of those CAD files and bill of materials with supplier information
is helpful.
Good luck anyhow...

I gotta quit waking up early; I forgot March had thirty-ONE days!
OK, so back to the previously mentioned happy message...
FREE AT LAST,
FREE AT LAST,
THANK GOD ALMIGHTY, I'M FREE AT LAST!!
The tyranny (and that's the _only_ thing you can call it) of GENE THE
FUCKWAD and the BUTTCAVE TRAVELING CIRCUS OF IDIOTS is now over! (Kim
excepted; she _earned_ my respect. Gene? BWAHAHAHA-FUCKING-HAHAHA! Not
even!)
This announcement suddenly put a lot of things into place; why Gene has
been pulling parts out of his ass when he's been completely inept before,
Buttcave's threatening of Wayne on the Facist Forum, and Wayne using WMS
coils on his whitewood all now make sense.
(mirrors via email are nice. :)) )
Congratulations Wayne.
Hey, is my MM playfield done yet? Ha! Just kidding. But that does
explain how you were able to get the artwork to make one for your game.
Looking forward to seeing updates on this!!! Ask Uncle Willy may be
coming back!!!

I guess it would cost too much to remake and still sell enough machines
to profit.
Good Luck....
Pin-Del, =)
Having said that, if it's true then congratulations Wayne!
Also, please forget about remaking old Williams games....it's time for
something new and exciting in the name of WMS/Bally.

I try not to be jingoistic, but if all this comes to pass then one of
the most unique traits about pinball is over. Only way I'd ever buy
some pinball from Austrailia is it had better be the best damn original
game ever, or it better be $2k NIB.
WMS remakes at high prices? Forget about it.

Assuming this is not a April Fools joke, which I'm still not convinced
of, what are your plans?
Setup manufacturing in Australlia? US?
What games might you re-release?
What effect does this have on BBB?

I'm betting it's real. Too much innuendo lately. Gene's cease and
desist letter, the talk of the Oct exclusivity clause etc.
>
> Setup manufacturing in Australlia? US?
Would make sense to make populated playfields in Australia (or an even
cheaper locale in Pac Rim) and do final assemply in USA using someone
like Big Time Cabinets to supply cabinets and do assembly. Just a
guess.
>
> What games might you re-release?
MM, he already mentioned he's doing playfields and this is a no
brainer. I'd suspect AF, since it is a simple game and very popular.
AFM comes to mind. Oh this is too much fun.
>
> What effect does this have on BBB?
I'll bet BBB gets done, AFTER Wayne gets the contracts he needs out of
Gene for molds, supplies, etc. This is probably the root of the C&D
letter. To give Wayne leverage.
Richard

That's just the cherry on top of the cake , isn't it...? :-)
Damn Hoopster, you beat me to it.....Notice there is no commentary from
either of these two yet.
Well, to be fair, he hasn't produced anything yet.
The irony is that Gary says remakes are on the way, then bids high on
games he says will be remade anyway, says MRPA will never make a game,
then we find out that the person who can remake the games is MRPA.
Strange twist of events. Even without this news, Gary is a tool.

But, first mention of it came on March 30th (EST) so if it is a April

The wording of the news implies he could remake a Williams MM and name
it a Bally, but then seems to indicate he could only manufacturer it
under his own company, and only use Bally if they were his new games OR
former Bally games. Might have to be labeled as a "WayneCo MM", maybe
not.
So he has to use his new system (whateverr it is) for new games cuz
Williams wouldn't let him use their old system for making any new
games. Hmmm. Paying for the rights for WPC but he can't do anything
new with it.
Sure, I've played some amusing Zacarria and Playmatic games, too.
But those games are virtually worthless as collectibles and probably
come to very few minds when someone says the word "pinball". I've got
a New World sitting in storage with my name on it, and it looks *new*,
brand new. But so what? That makes it worth $350 instead of $200 if
it was beat up?
In a dying market, remakes of old machines aren't going to change
anyone's minds about what country was the master of pinball. This
stuff, even if he's very successful, isn't going to be a drop in the
bucket of the numbers already out there.
I fully expect to see some Bally pins around Shanghai when I get over
there again in 3 years or so. Hmmmm, any chance of an olympic tie-in
pin for 2008?
However, given the size of your investment and the start-up costs of
integrating the new technologies with base knowledge, I promise to be a
bit more realistic in terms of my "reasonable price" expectations than
what I seen suggested by others!

Now imagine *today* how much they could cost if you want that same
level of quality eight years later and with none of the tooling
plants available and no savings from large production numbers.
But enough of glum assessments - good news is good news ;-)

Remakes of old machines only purpose is to get games like MM to the
hands of those who cannot because of the scarce supply. Of course the
true main purpose for any of this is $$$$$$$
If there is a good possiblity of making $$$$ it will be done. It is
that simple. Its all about the GREEN. That is life.
Yeah but your example was remaking MM, so there is no need to recoup
the development costs of that particular game. Wayne didn't pay them
THAT much.
Sure would be volume savings on other stuff like parts, screening etc,
but that stuff is minor compared to the near 1 million per game
development cost that had to be made back by Williams.
If he wants to use his own system to make a worthily named MM 2?
Uhhhhhhh.....
I wonder how many more (or less) games would be sold if they were in
kit form. I'd jump at the chance to assemble my own game.
Kirb
Wayne....the new Zaccaria? God I hope not.
I would be all over kit games!
