Hey all. I've been playing the heck outta No Fear at DiDonatos in
Hammonton, NJ. Trying to beat Chris "CLN" grand champ of 14 billion.
However, what happens sometimes is that after a while, the jump ramp
gets a little flaky. I've heard it can get overheated and purposely
shut down, or just not work. Then a few minutes later it's fine. The
OP is a great one, and has spent a lot of time with it. Is this just
something that happens, or is there a 'magic' fix? Any thoughts?

Also, What do u think about NF vs HS2? They remind me kinda of each
other, with the jump ramp being like the Super Charger but you flip
the ball instead, and NF has a bit of a T2 feel for me. I think NF is
a much better game because it has many more features, and unlike HS2
where you can win seemingly endless Extra Balls, on NF it gets harder
and harder with the orbit. Two ramps instead of one, and the Skull do
it for me too. Plus, while some 'time out' the modes, I don't when
going for score. It's not hard to start Payback Time, or
'Challenges". So, if you get the Raceway orbit up to 25m, Payback
time at 25m, and the Challenge award, you can be almost 100m a shot.
Or same thing with the jump ramp. Stack a Challenge with Payback, and
hit like 10 jumps in a row, BOOM, free game.

I asked this question a while back, and it seems scientifically proven
that HS2 is just plain better. Lord knows I love the hell out of HS2.

Funny you say this, but I think they are all similar. I throw Bk2k in
that lot too.
NF and T2 similar
Bk2k and HS2 similar

I own all 4 of them, but if I had to get rid of any of them, I would
only take one from each row and keep NF and HS2 if it came down to
it. The speed on NF is amazing and it has so much depth vs HS2.
however HS2 is just plain fun to play and the sounds are sweet. By
far my favorite super jackpot sound ever in HS2.

You should try timing out the modes to get to the wizard mode where
every shot is 50 million points or something. That's probably what CLN
did (although he is a damn good player otherwise he has GC on 2 of my
machines that I can't beat - one I will eventually on STTNG but the 122
million on whirlwind I don't think I'll ever beat)

14 billion? Wow. Here I thought my measly 6 billion something was a good
game... Need more practice.

I prefer NF to HSII. The supercharger feature annoys me just because it
doesn't actually affect game play. Neat eye candy but a lot about nothing...

Thanks for all the info. 6 billion IS very good. Chris "CLN" is like
a world champion caliber player, and I'm lucky he has yet to reclaim
his score on TRON - I put up 376 million and it's holding!!!! I'm
happy to even be able to be competitive with him, so I guess I'm not
so bad myself... as for timing out the modes, I feel like I don't need
to do that, coz you can rack up big points during them by stacking
them with 25 mill raceway and payback time. Then a shot scores 50
million + anyway, so it's BETTER than the wizard modes. Plus, ya
gotta have *some* confidence in your ability to flip without
draining. In a tournament maybe, but in casual play, NEVER time out
the modes is my opinion. At least on most games. NF for SURE.

Is that CLN Chris Newsom? He still has the high score on my Cosmic
Gunfight from the Houston show 5 years ago. I think he needed a second
plane ticket to haul all the trophies home that year. ;-)

Yeah, it is. I have all my games set to award 5 credits for GC and I
heard it twice that night from him.

The sad thing is, the whirlwind score would have been much higher but
the lower right flipper linkage snapped.
