I installed one on my Tron. Fits great and works like a champ :-)

I must say, the way it mounts in the way of the kickout scoop modified
how the scoop tightened down, which in turn changed the way the ball
flies out of the scoop on mine. Made the ball a little trickier to
control.

Not unacceptably so, but it's not transparent.

I didn't have that happen with mine Dan. There was no effect on the ball
when I added the protector.
It still flies right out to the right flipper every time. Perhaps you can
try refitting it. Just a thought.

Didn't happen with mine either.... Gameplay remained un-changed (and
awesome)

My protectors fit great. After tightening everything down, I did have
to adjust the area of the scoop where the plunger fires. The
protectors added just enough thickness that the plunger would rub
against the scoop flange.

Very easy to slightly bend that scoop flange so the plunger fires
without rubbing against it as it should.

Some protection is better than none & I was starting to see wear/dents
on the sides - my preference would have been Cliffies due to the
thinness of his Protectors but it didn't work out.
I needed to open up the Plunger hole (it rubbed slightly & didn't
fully retract which made the Opto think there was a ball in it) &
added 2 thick washers under the 2 sheet metal screws to keep it level
& now it kicks out exactly the same as before.
I have noticed that the Ball Skips across the Arcade slot occasionally
now which I NEVER saw before it was installed but the hole won't get
beat-up anymore.

They mount inside the hole on the playfield and help prevent the edge
of the wood from becoming worn by the ball entering/leaving the hole.
