Just had a couple clowns who pulled up in a truck to look at the free
pinball heads---unfortunately, we had a shopped Super Street Fighter
video game outside drying near our loading dock...not even close to
the heads---with a new paint job---well, they thought we were throwing
it out (wet paint and all) and they ripped off the coin door, logic
board, and were in the process of removing the monitor when our guy
walked outside. They already took parts and light bulbs out of some
of the heads for the Jacks Open in the back of their truck they just
got somewhere.
The heads are now getting smashed to bits and going into the
dumpster...and I am through with the free stuff forever!
REMEMBER---EVERY good deed gets punished!

Ouch! Look at the bright side... they didn't just load the whole game
up and take off with it!

WOW Todd that sucks.

Did your guy get the parts from the Street Fighter back?

I don't blame you either, I would stop giving stuff away too.

Giving away free stuff is always a pain in the ass.

There is always one joker who wants you to bend over backwards
(photos, free shipping, tons of questions) and sends you really bad
emails because they don't understand that you get what you pay
for...over the top service is something you get when you actually send
money. Expecting the same service when you give away an item is just
being an ass.

I often will look at something that will do others some good and think
to myself- 'this would be way easier to throw away than try to help
someone out and give it away'.

I'm surprised that you continued doing it after some doofus in
California assumed that when you said "free" arcade cabinets, it meant
"free" transcontinental shipping for them, too. What a hoot that
email exchange in 2004 was:

Todd, you should sic Jason Cross on their asses. Tell him it was MePin
and Homebrood that ripped you off.

Seriously, it sucks and I'm sorry too.

A couple years ago, my wife's dad died, and we had to clean out the
house to sell it. We sold what we could, and then posted a "Free
Stuff" ad on CL. This was in New Orleans, maybe 9 months after
Katrina, and a lot of people showed up, looking to replace stuff they
lost in the storm. It was also just before college was starting, and a
lot of students were looking for crap for their dorms and apartments.
So, people needed the stuff and it felt good to help them out. Some
schmuck comes in and asks what's for free. I tell him anything in the
house, except for this one room that we had closed shut with blue tape
all over the door. So he is rooting around the house, gets some stuff,
and is putting it in his vehicle. A couple minutes later, I see him
walking out of the house carrying something from the closed room. I
see the tape off the door, and head out the door, and he is running to
his car now. I grab his ass before he gets to the car, put him on the
ground, and see that this was his second trip out of the closed room,
with several other stolen items in his back seat. He is squealing "I
thought it was all free!!!!!! ", which only pissed me off more. I
take his car keys, call the cops, clear out ALL my stuff from his car,
free and stolen, and shove his ass back in the car and hit him with
his keys.

So, I can relate.

That is very disappointing, I would hope that you contacted the
police, and hopefully they were made to pay for the damages.
Its sad that people behave that way, especially when you are giving
things away.

I have an old EM pin that needs a new head, it would have been great
to get something.

I hope you'll reconsider, but I can respect how you feel with lamers
like that.

I don't believe anyone is that stupid. I would have called the police
immediately. Funny how low-lifes like this tend to have outstanding
warrants and parole/probation officers. The last person who burgled
my place is spending four years in prison,

I listed 3 empty vids on CL. Had 2 guys come by and raised hell when
I would not give them the 2 games that I had working. My wife had to
call the police before they left. Surprised me a lot to say the
least. Last two cabs and pin body/head went to the dump.

Never again,
