Hello,

I bought a SW EP1 playfield and a NOS EP1 roms daughter card.
RFM was in version 1.5.
I did the following:
- disable game code update
- reboot
- power off
- swap roms card
- power on, fine but clicks and bleeps instead of sounds
- update both program and sounds to 1.4 with serial update
- do a factory reset

Still, no correct sound, only clicks and bleeps when going into the menus
etc..
No errors on screen during bootup. Complete roms checksum OK. Game shows
version 1.4 OK.

I also tried a cmos reset directly on the motherboard, no change.

I reverted to RFM + 1.5 upgrade to be sure prism etc.. were still OK, no
problem, everything OK including sounds.

Went back again to SW EP1 -> bad sounds..

I'm quite stuck, any idea?

Thanks.

I've seen SWE1 sound ROMs in the ROM board in backwards. Be sure
they're in correctly with no bent pins.

Be sure you're properly doing the update to the PRISM after the ROM
swap. No sound is one of the symptoms of no update to the PRISM being
done after swapping ROMs.

Check for bent pins on the edge connector of the cards and maybe reseat
the EP1 ROM chips.

My guess would be one of the cables somewhere just needs
unplugged/plugged back in. I had a similar problem which was rectified
by reseating the cables that go to the computer.

It sounds to me like you forgot to plug the digital audio cable back
into the PRISM card after doing the ROM swap. It's a small 4 or 6 wire
(can't remember exactly) connector.

Ok, probably not. I just re-read and you said you went back to RFM and
that was OK, so you're probably not spacing on the cable...
