Let me know what you think.
I have tried my best to put a game on Black Knight into a 3 minute
film.
I have kept the annoying BK background sound throughout this fill just
to aggarvate you all
( lol )
I did listen to your suggestions and you now shouldnt hear many / any
"clacking noises ".
I have also done many more "long shots" in this one to try and
highlight the lower PF, the upper PF and a bit of entire PF action as
well as try and show you some close ups of targets, the horseshoe ,
mystery scores in BG etc.
You just have to see the classic 2 ball slo-mo shot around the 1.46
area - it takes years and years of playing to master a shot like this
!!!! ( lol )
Thanks to Steve ( skbrothers) for making me think about various
background tracks )
Of course- I await your comments.
Maybe someone might see my movies , think of the effort involved and
donate me a set of Space Invaders PF plastics that I so desperatley
seek ( shameless request ! )
Regards
Wotto
Yeah - I think so too- I just couldnt get the good shots I wanted on
the BK ( video shots I mean ) and if i tried to "lengthen" pieces like
say the horseshoe shots or ramp shots they seemed to go for too long
and made that moment of the film boring.
It was a difficult one to do.

Anyway...Decent job, though I am not an AC/DC fan, the cinematics are
good. I would still like to hear more voices when they are
appropriate.
Actually, they are the wrong flippers :)
Thanks for that junebugrunning- my feelings too ( sometimes ). It took
a week of nights and a weekend day.
Anyway it's always easier to pick faults - I do it myself. Some
comments like that bother me a little bit only because there is NO-ONE
out there doing anything like what I have done??? , but it's not a huge
deal and wont stop me doing a few more in the future, some guy's write
what they feel- thats cool.
To answer the others about the "faults" with my BK - yes - the guy I
bought the BK off had installed Bally or Gottlieb flipper assemblies
under there so the flippers are different and can not be converted back
( simply ) , the Bally assemblies with thier smaller coils do not give
the flippers great power so I have had to have a slow machine angle set
to enable to even get ramp shots done.............nevertheless I have
just outlayed more bucks on my pins and I have a new pair of original
williams assemblies and the CORRECT coils to install , coming from
Pinball life as I write this. I am only doing the lower 2 due to the
cost nd the top PF flippers are strong enough for the small PF anyway-
just means I will have to keep ALL flippers WHITE instead of the
original YELLOW - other than thet- this BK is nearly MINT - I did the
restore on it.
After the new flipper assemblies are installed I will be able to get
this machine running as it is meant to be ( I hope ).
Wotto
- Not sure what you mean here - I purposely tried to keep the scores
in the backgound as a faded image while also allowing the gameplay to
be seen at the same time as opposed to what I did in Gorgar where I cut
to a score and then back to the gameplay , they werent meant to fade
in then out if thats what you expected??
Let me know because the more comments I get I will take into account on
my next film.
Author asked for comments (I understand that means positive and negative),
but a lot of you guys could soften your negative comments and give the guy
some Candy!
Obviously a bunch of time was put into this (If you don't think so then try
doing a vid like this yourself).
Anyway I've enjoyed what you've done so far and would love to see more.
Hell, would pay to see more of these.

Please note that this is IMHO, but I'd like it to either be like the
first video, fade in instead of popping, or actually cut out the display and
only overlay that. For me, the backglass around the score is too
distracting to just pop up like that.
Either way, you really are doing a fantastic job-- this is intended to
be constructive criticism, and if that's all I could come up with, you're
doing really well!
Bloody HELL, I wish I could pass the ball like that!!!!

My version of it would be - decent job was his review.... the end.
I can't cook worth shit, doesn't mean I can't taste somebody else's
spaghetti and suggest it might need a bit more oregeno. Maybe it does,
maybe it doesn't, but that doesn't mean I am out of line because I
didn't cook a friggin' pot of it myself too.
I see nothing but constructive suggestions on the video here and the
only one being harsh to others is you...
Get a video camera and see if you can do better, that is all I'm
saying.
Actually thats not all you said. You abrieviated expletives at people
for commenting on his work.
Almost all of the comments had positives and negatives in them. I
don't think anyone just lashed out and picked it apart.
Art in just about any form is worth looking at. Everyone has their own
vision of how to show us what they are thinking of. There is no right
and wrong way to do it. But people having opinions that are given in a
constructive way often lead to new enlightenments that may not have
been seen before. It's within the process of art.
I want to see more...
I KNOW I can't make a better video. I don't even have a camera and if
I did I'd be lucky to get the thing in focus. I said the video itself
was nice. The editing was particularly cool and professional looking.
I DO know pinball machines and this is a pinball newsgroup, and I know
those were not the correct flippers and the game was leveled too low,
and I'm sitting right next to my correctly leveled and flippered BK at
this very moment so if you want me to pretend I didn't notice those
little details, heh, forget it. So as far as the machine is concerned,
I don't have to see if I can do better - I already did.
Honestly, these video's allow me to see these pins in action for the first time, and in an artistic way. I love the editing. It shows all the areas and
features of the game, that is all I would ask for in a video of a pin. This is for pin fans, I don't think its going to the box office, so don't listen to
those who say you could do a better job. It is what it is, which is pretty cool. I'm glad you took the time to make them as good as you did.
Somebody mentioned Paragon! Hmmm. You know I'd love to see that one! I know the gameplay isn't as fast or exciting as the other tables, but you won't find a
much prettier table with lots of objects, art, lights, and great layout going on. And I think it is a very fun table, just a bit more relaxing than a BK
multiball. Thus, maybe some softer relaxing music in the background! It could be a great video, just different. And I would love to check out the gameplay.
Thanks a bunch!

Those are Gottlieb flippers, aren't they? Didn't they have that
"tiered" top?

No, they look like Gotlieb's, as Cody said, tiered tops. I'm surprised
that that shape flipper works it seems too fat unline the WMS ones.

I think it's great! Very nice job. These are fun to watch.
* Desperately searching for a nice Diner playfield!
* Email is munged.
You have captured my all time favorite pins #2 and #3 so do Paragon
some day and you will be my all time hero!!! Well done. John
Now, you need to do a video for Firepower and put the music to a Pink
Floyd song like Learning to Fly ... If you do enough of them, you
could put together a DVD. I for one would buy one from you...

I'm looking forward to the next one. (hint hint)
As soon as I get a decent video editing rig I have to do one of these
too. =)
Love the Vid, very well done!
Back in Black fits the video well...great choice!
That combo you hit at around the 1:49sec point in the video is a thing
of beauty! I have to admit that I've watched and scrutinized the shot
over and over. Sad being a pinball geek isn't it ;) If you look
close, the ball that ends up richoceting into the bonus multiplier
u-turn does so only because the lower left target bank resets just as
the ball hits it. Talk about pure timing! You'd be hard pressed to
duplicate this shot ever again....ain't the randomness of pinball
great!
I too noticed the non-stock flippers and the low playfield angle. Why
is it that people take it as a harsh criticism for noticing differences
on someone else's pins? Don't forget, we are all pinball enthusiasts
and it is inherent that we note the details...we cannot help it.
Nothing wrong with pointing them out as long as you aren't doing so in
a malicious nature. That's my opinion though.
On that note...I like how you added the caveat that you have left the
drop target timer sound in to remain faithful to the pin, knowing that
it would annoy those that have been vocal about it as a BK shortcoming.
I've never been annoyed by it in person, it's part of the game and it
is great at adding tension. I have to admit that on video it kinda
started to get to me a little. Not a knock, just my meaningless
opinion. :)
Keep up the great work Wotto! It would be awesome to have a
compilation DVD that would document the essence of all the classic pins
of each era. I'm surprised Josh hasn't chimed in here yet ;)
Phenominal effort Wotto!
Thanks for the hard work!

I will never charge for anything like this , I do it purely to give
other pinheads a bit of enjoyments.
Thanks for all the comments guys.
All taken on board for the next session.
I am actually considering a "compilation" movie of sorts???? Might even
re-do the BK movie one day.
If any of you ever try this , just wait till you get to the point where
you have to choose a song to go with the movie- it is the HARDEST part
of it all, I must have tried 20+ tracks against the BK movie and even
though some of the songs ROCK in normal listening - they SUCKED when
played with the footage - bloody difficult to get a match, plus at the
same time trying to think what the "majority" of people would enjoy
hearing.
Dunno what wil be next- will rest for a while - will post when
something is coming to mind.
Thanks again all who spoke up
Cheers
Wotto
Very, very nice work. Great music choice and excellent editing.
I wish there was a short clip like this for every machine on IPDB.
These clips are a true asset to the hobby.
Thanks

If ppl are having trouble with pinmame there are help files. There is
also a new install program to use that sets it up for you. With over
400 machines it hasn't failed on me yet.
