I've got a WPC A-12738 board from a Funhouse that I got off eBay --
the seller did say it had problems, so I sort of knew that I was in
for something.

But here's the thing: It works in my Doctor Who (I was just testing it
-- it will be going into a T2, so it's the correct board for that
machine), but I can't turn the volume up or down... it stays the same
with the volume at 0 or 30.

The board has been repaired and modded... it looks like R17 and C20
are grounded to one of the screw holes with what looks like a couple
of capacitors in between, along with some fixes to the traces in that
area.

Does anyone have any ideas about what could be wrong and what the
ground wire is for? Clay's repair guide and my imperfect understanding
of electronics would seem to indicate that the chip that controls the
volume at U5 is a likely suspect.

Thanks,
Joe

You likely have a failed X9503 digital pot.
I noticed that Marco sells those now.

That's what I thought... and I saw that Marco had it too. And I just
put in an order with them a few days ago. Now I have to pay shipping
again. :(
