1978 Bally .05 12v caps across leaf switches. Do you need em?

Found the problem with my Kiss pin. The .05 12v cap across the leaf
switches for the letter "I" was shorting causing points to come up.
Are these caps needed? Is there a substitute for them if so?

Cut one lead of the cap, and it'll still work, but fast hits may not
register. Bally's are known to have switch caps go bad. It's a good
idea to replace all of them. Every Bally I've purchased has needed new
ones.

I believe .047 is commonly available and cheap. They work fine.

You really do need them, but not usually for a rollover lane. Those usually
stay closed plenty long enough for the MPU to see them. They are normally
seen on standups and star rollovers that have really quick trip-times.
