My personal opinion on rgp radio and everything associated with it.

I personally think that RGP Radio is the most pathetic thing I have
ever heard in my life. The first time I heard about it I was very
interested. Being a fan of the hobby, a radio show featuring news
about games, possible repair tips, and overall general discussion
about pinball sounded incredibly interesting to me. In fact, it was a
great idea. But this is just pathetic. The 14 year old soap opera
that RGP Radio has evolved into is absolutley terrible. Why is
everyone interested in everyone arguing? Keep in mind- you're arguing-
about PINBALL MACHINES. THAT'S cool... Everyone hates gary- because
he said this- but wait- he didn't really say that- oh, but we have
emails to prove what he said- WHO THE HELL CARES???? SERIOUSLY! Take
a step back and realize that you are RUINING the hobby. Pinball is a
fun game that you can learn a lot about, but this show reminds me of a
a group of 6th grade pre-teen girls gossiping about who stole who's
boyfriend and who's mad at the other. Also, is it just me, or is gary
the most arrogant radio host possible? Gary: go hang out with Jim
Rome.
HERE'S what I want to hear in a pinball radio show:
Information on new games
Information on old games
Repair tips for the beginner or the advanced
Information on remakes, new parts, etc...
Williams/Bally info is always interesting...
etc..., etc... etc...
I realize that rgp radio already has some of this content but the
arguing / 'controversy' that comes along with it pretty much ruins
it. If someone was to tell you that they were going to create a radio
show about the hobby of model airplanes, would your initial reaction
be- Oh! THAT'S gonna be controversial!!! ...You would expect a fun
and informative show about the hobby. But maybe you're on to
something- maybe we should start incorporating arguing and controversy
into things that would otherwise not be controversial- you know- like
the Antiques Roadshow: That 1927 gold teapot is worth 1500 dollars!
NO WAY- it's worth 2000! NO WAY!!! 1500!!! Bullshit- 2000! Oh, how
exciting! Tune in next time to find out who wins!!! This would be
along the same maturity level and equally as pathetic as rgp radio.
Also- take a broadcasting class and learn how to operate a board. The
first 20 minutes of every show spent saying- is this better? can you
hear me now? how about now? now? louder? how about now? is that good?
now? louder? that's gotta be good... it's not good? now? how about if
I try this? does it work now? i can hear you, can you hear me? how
about now? I'm sure it works now... it doesn't work? What about now?

I feel like I'm watching a verizon wireless commercial.
I have not yet listened to topcast, but maybe that is my show... maybe
all the things that I am looking for are there... people who are
actually interested in the hobby and are not desperatley crying out
for attention.
Please take this letter as one of constructive criticism. I understand
the show is relatively new, but realize that I ran a more professional
radio show on my COLLEGE CAMPUS then the one you broadcast to people
all over the world.
And one last thing- don't respond with statistics on how popular the
show is and numbers on how many listeners you have- I understand
people listen to your show. I just think it's pathetic.

I agree with Mike , too many cry babies and winers stamping there feet
because they think they can control what happens by complaining . The posts
complaining about Gary are more annoying than Gary , they can't seem to
grasp the concept that they are feeding into him . This is the
internet/usenet and is not a democracy where the people get to vote and
control what happens . If you don't like it , don't listen , period . I will
listen to whatever I feel like if it interests me and I leave my personal
opinions out of it . If he has a guest I like I listen , if not I don't ,
same for any other show . I personally have never responded to ANY of Gary's
posts and life goes on .Some people are just immature and like to complain
and be involved in constant drama rather than just shut up and vote with
their on/off switch.

Actually, Mike.. it does matter. On two of the shows, you're
interacting with good people who are devoted to pinball and have
repeatedly demonstrated willingness to help others. On the other
show, you're dealing with a self-centered backstabbing jerk who lashes
out at anyone and everyone. I hope you keep this in mind when you're
deciding which shows to appear on in the future. You do a lot for
pinball, Mike. Don't let gary ride your coattails. He's using you,
just like he uses Wayne and he used Darin and Jeff in the past.

Just because 20 dorks yammer on about how great Gary is and people
disagree with them and yell back giving Gary just what his attention
starved pea brain wants doesnt mean that anyone is going to stop doing
what they love.
And if some stupid noise causes someone to sell out, then maybe they
should question why they're in the hobby in the first place. There's
always been a clown...mr mirror balls, the early days of tom wibble,
gary...and it will continue as long as anyone can get behind a
keyboard and run their mouth.
just ignore it and support what you like and everything will take care
of itself.

I'm glad they are putting them up for download, I almost never get to
watch/listen to anything live anymore. Between work and fixing pins I
just don't have the time. If it weren't for tivo and itunes I'd never
watch/listen to anything!
This will make the day go faster at work too! Damn mondays.

I can't believe a big portion of the guys in this group that say they

Worst Ball Ever
Let me explain my position in this. Most of us are in the hobby
because we love pinball. We're decent people, have normal values, and
can treat one another with respect. This is the RGP that I joined.
Some are in the hobby for personal gain and enjoy exploiting the other
members of the group.
This exploitation can be financial (ripping people off), making
themselves feel superior by personal attacks (race, religion, etc), or
causing chaos for no other reason than to gain attention to
themselves. I won't tolerate people like this in my personal life and
certainly don't have to give them any breaks here.
As one of the 90% you refer to, I'm tired of the 'bullsh*t' caused by
the 10% that don't 'get it'. Since it's a public newsgroup, my only
option is to ignore the members who I don't agree with.
If you (not you personally) can't get along, then move along....
