I can't imagine that they had computers (or hard disks!) that could do that
sort of stuff back then 1981/2. Surely this would have been just been done
in the silkscreen process?

Oh, they certainly did have such computers way back when. With the
$$$ they cost you could buy BBB and MM new in the box today a couple
times over. The CAD systems developed back in the 70s could have done
stuff like this
It was on eBay about a year ago. Don't know if it sold.
