I'll second the "nah."

This place has ALWAYS sucked in one way or another, it's the nature of
the beast, which is good and bad.

Check out what this place was like in the aftermath of 9/11. Check out
what this place is like EVERY election season - even non-presidential
ones. Check out the Gary wars. It's all there in google - warts and
all.

Simple jokes about baby batter all over EZ's wife's face are pretty
mild compared to some of the stuff we've seen here. And we keep coming
back 'cause we can't get enough.

I know. I'm not naive about how this works. 99% of the time I ignore
and move on. Sometimes though the sheer ignorance of people when they
hide behind their keyboards is breathtaking. I'm just trying to read
about a guy selling a pinball machine and this is what I get.

Nothing is going to change and the boundries of decent behavior are
all but gone.

Oh well.

Dunno about that; decent people will act towards others decently pretty
much regardless of situation.

Then again, we all have our bad days!

Yes it has always sucked one way or another, but it's been steadily
getting worse over the years. I've been here since 1996. I'm not
complaining though, love the drama but it is getting a little old. Not
complaining at all, just don't read RGP as often and spending more
time at Pinside and WOZ.

Without the drama, this place would be boring. You probably don't
remember the Gary Cubeta days about 5+ years ago... that was chaos.
And things will pick up again this fall when elections
hit.....everyone has an opinion and knows how to run the country as a
Dem or Rep. And Korn will continue to bash RBION no matter how
popular the title has become. And Frank will always have something to
say on every thread. And no one will like the current trend of
prices. I will continue to like Avatar even though its a dud game by
most......etc etc etc :)

Ya...there will always be an element hanging around here that rubs
most folks the wrong way. Irritating, but that's life. This is still
the best place for pinfo. Unless the good folks let the irritating
folks drive them away, it will always remain the best place too.

Yeah YEAH where is it, somebody please list a post archive, me likes
the nasty stuff! Let's add a wav file player to RGP so it plays
background music from a bad 70's porn flick while we're reading, so
that this newsgroup may die a slow degrading death.

I remember Gary and the other soap operas form the last several
years.I'm not really talking about all the bickering and drama
(although I much prefer pinball talk no matter how rehashed it might
be). I can and do deal with that and all the other junk by ignoring
it.

It's the level of viciousness and pure nastiness that seems to be
increasing. Enough from me on this. I'll continue to filter and ignore
and move on. Overall, I have had good luck with my questions or
comments here and find great value in mining the RGP archive for
advice on pin repair, etc.

Gary was classic awfulness. I think one guy stood outside his house
at Thanksgiving and threatened him and his wife.

Shit almost got real...

Never seen this place get so polarized against him. If it had
happened today it would have killed RGP. Killed it. Everyone would
have moved over to a moderated board and he would have been
blackballed.

RGP would be crickets...

Come on...I remember lots of shit (maybe some email or phone
harrassment of his family members?) but I don't think anybody actually
showed up to take on all 5 foot 5 of Gary. Did they?!

Gary had a unique, completely unparralled talent for getting under
peoples' skin here. I don't think ANYBODY was able to not take the
bait at least once. And once he took it "multimedia" with his
podcasts, shit went into transwarp. It was a sight to see.

Levi, we actually agree 100% on this one (maybe on the Skins RG3 pick
as well). Gary absolutely knew how to push buttons. I bit the bait a
few times :)

Well you could look at Gary as a negative thing or a positive thing. Negatives are
well documented.

A *positive* thing was that it stuck a serious prod up Clay's (and by extension,
mine) butt, and was a big factor in getting Topcast to "happen". Simply put, we
wanted to deprive Gary of content for his show. :)

Don't necessarily think it is for noobs anymore. I have seen many of
the "old" RGPers migrate over there lately because I think they are
getting tired of the Wild West which is known as a newsgroup. Not
being moderated has its ups and downs. Can pretty much say what you
want without any repercussions. Sometimes that can be a good thing,
sometimes that can be a bad thing. Best thing RGP will have over any
site is history. You can pretty much search for the answer of
anything pinball related. It is the best resource for referencing
cross checking problems pin related.

RGP is still extremely extremely tame. Compared to other usenet
groups. Many other groups have self destructed over the years. If you
think RGP is getting bad now, you've led a very sheltered (usenet)
life. The NFL usenet group imploded years ago. There has been one post
there this year. The boating group (which used to be one of my
favorites) has evolved into a bunch of old fucks arguing about
politics. They don't even precede their subject line with OT any more.
The Nascar group has dwindled down to just a trickle. Once the term
'Nascar Dad' entered the vernacular, it was overrun with off topic BS.
I could go on, but I wont. This place is fine when you look at the big
picture. Once the idiot troll goes away, things will get back to
normal here.

It's so sad and pathetic you guys actually think of RGP as a Social
outlet. It's not, I guess only for the pathetic. Something is wrong
with you when: 1. You post all day everyday about pinball. (Tool
that's you!) 2. Look to RGP for social being. 3. Actually think of RGP
as a "Friend". "Rare Fool" and "Mark the Tool" try so hard and want to
be relevant but that's never going to happen. Mainly because you add
absolutely nothing to the hobby no matter how hard you try. Trust me
many of us actually laugh often at the strange behavior of the

My point? You should do the research on the people you think you have
a stronger game than the people you claim to be on welfare and cannot
afford games. btw, why the hell would I want 3 different AC/DC games.
And the answer (obviously) is that you can afford it and I cannot not.

It must have been a major event (laying on cardboard boxes) if you have
your picture taken and put it on a facebook page.

I think vinyl siding comes in cardboard boxes so maybe he missed the
