1: Demolition Man US$1250 - excellent condition - HUO - hardly any
plays. Works 100%
2: Black Rose US$1150 - Good overall but has seen some work (playfield
and canon excellent / straight) cabinet faded and one side of back box
has been painted.
these are to go along side a Shadow.
What would you buy? Thanks for all/any advice! Also anyone sell back
box decals for the Black Rose if i get it?
You have a Shadow? I would think Black Rose would be a good fit.
Didn't Bryan Eddy also do some work on Black Rose? Anyway, great
underrated game and A LOT more eye-appealing than Demolition Man.
Most people here will tell you to ditch both of them though, as they
aren't exactly A-rated games :(
Never played a demo man, but I do own a Black Rose, so I might be a
*little* biased here :)
i have a black rose. i second raymond. great underrated game. cool
shots. great sounds. lots of video modes. everyone i know who plays
mine falls in love with it. that speaks for itself to me.

I had a Demo Man..... Traded it off, thankfully, WOULD NEVER OWN
THAT GAME AGAIN. I have heard Black Rose is a decent game.. My 2
cents.

I don't know much about demo man. I do own a Blackrose. The other
guys are right, I think that BlackRose is underated.
This is like asking if you should buy a black and white or a color
tv....except I'll go against the grain of all other responses. I've
owned both, and fortunately sold off the BR. DM OTOH is my current
favorite....to the point my WH20 and AFM are gathering dust; just
can't get enough of the DM.
BR never had the flow I would have liked; the whirlpool was repeatable
(whoppee), but that left ramp sloppily drops to the upper flipper,
which if you're lucky enough to hit the side ramp (which again
sloppily drops to the upper flipper) you get interrupted by the locker
opening and breaking the flow (which reminds me...if you get the BR,
get the latest ROM; earlier version used a very powerful engagement of
the ramp flap which could slam the ball right into the PF glass; later
versions "softened" the ramp opening).
If you like 2-ball multi-ball (yes, you can get a 3 ball) and cheezy
video modes, go BR. If you like ramps, 5 multi-ball modes, flow, ball
save, combos, super jackpots, and easter eggs, DM would be the way to
go.
BR does have more cows than DM...
If you can play them, play them. Both of these games are extremely
hit or miss with people, and it's hard to make a recommendation for
either without having the potential purchaser actually play them.
If you don't have the chance to play them, ask yourself why you like
the Shadow:
If the answer is because of the flow of the game, then you'll probably
lean toward the Demo Man if you like that in your games. Demo Man is
an extremely flow-y game, while Black Rose is anything but.
Black Rose is a much more clunky game that I think has extremely
stupid video modes. But, it has some very unique shots and features
(like the cannon) that make it a real hit with some people.
Looking at the prices you named however, the DM seems like a much
better deal. I have seen HUO DMs sell for $1500 or more, while routed
Black Roses can definitely be had under $1000, although they don't
come up as often.
BR
3 video modes.&.cannon....give it a leg up.
I vote DM. Lots of ramps and flow. Crappy theme, but what are you
going to do. The game itself is really cool. That price sounds
awesome if it's really in HUO shape.
Black Rose is fun, but DM is a bit better to me, and for that price
difference I'd go for the one in excellent shape.
