Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions on this one. A
Google search found the same problem mentioned here way back in 2002, Lloyd
had given a suggestion but no resolution was posted and it was missing one
detail - that it only happens when the hologram is on.

I've had the game for a long time and it has been working fine, but
recently started experiencing a weak right flipper only during multiball
when in rescue mode, and it occurs only when the hologram is on. It can
only make it about halfway up the left ramp when this happens. Once a ball
drains and the hologram turns off, the right flipper is back to normal. The
left flipper is ok all of the time.

Just to be sure it was not a line power issue, I turned off everything else
that was connected to the same power outlet - as I expected this had no
effect.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Bob

Can you disconnect the hologram and see if that makes a difference in
the same time of gameplay? Maybe light is coming from the hologram and
affecting the flipper optos?

Wow, that was it. Thanks!

I disconnected the connector to the holo lamp and the flipper is at full
power during multiball/rescue mode.

I'd build some kind of protector for the light for the optos then so
you can play it with the hologram on.

First thing I would do is reseat all the ribbon cable connectors in the
backbox. These are a common source of intermittent connections that can
cause some weird, freaky problems.

Second, I would clean the optos on the flipper button opto boards in the
main cabinet- and maybe even swap from left to right to see if problem
persists.

This could be a light related problem- you have the hologram light on in the
main cabinet- the optos may be picking up some of that light- emulating a
"leaky opto" problem....

Interesting-
