Regrettably have to report this guy as a bad seller.

Joe Puddu (Ebay seller "joe73p") of Wichita Falls, Texas

I made the mistake of buying something from Joe Puddu which 6 weeks
later I have never received. I think it is reasonable to expect that
something sent by USPS priority mail should have reached the Florida
address I gave him within 6 weeks: but it hasn't.

In 10 years in the hobby and having shipped and received hundreds of
parcels all around the world, this is the first one that ever went
astray. Maybe I was due to lose one eventually or maybe he took
advantage of the situation and kept my money and the item? I wish I
knew for sure.

Joe Puddu has not been able to provide any proof of shipping despite
repeated requests.

I have no proof either that he didn't post it, as he says he did,
other than the fact that the parcel never arrived.

I can though fairly claim that Joe Puddu is a bad seller because his
"customer service" is pitiful and he not only shows no interest in
working out any kind of solution but he doesn't even bother to reply
to any of my emails anymore. Considering that I spent $100 with him
plus $14 for the shipping, some care and attention is the least that
he should be giving me.

I did actually call him on Wednesday 25th (from Switzerland to Texas)
and yes he was nice on the phone when I explained who I
was..........and since then he didn't reply to a single email in 3 I
sent him.

I can only recommend then not to make any transaction with Joe Puddu
unless you make it in person and even then, based on my experience
with him, I would count your fingers afterwards.

Unfortunately it seems that I am not the first to find him to be a bad
seller:
http://groups.google.ch/group/rec.games.pinball/browse_thread/thread/c726e31df28e9dd/82e38230c684cbca?lnk=gst&q=joe+puddu#82e38230c684cbca

If you ever see Joe Puddu selling a Caveman boardset (video side of
the game) it's probably the one he sold to me and which never arrived.

If the parcel ever arrives though or I get on a trip to Wichita Falls,
I'll be happy to let you all know!

Regards,
Peter

Sorry you had a bad experience, I have had a couple transactions with
Joe and they were fine. Hopefully it will work out for you.

Peter,

Sorry to hear that your experience with Joe P. has been a negative one
thus far, but I have to say that I have had at least 3 or 4 Ebay
transactions with this same seller, and all were quite good. Lots of
nice old Gottlieb beehive ball shooters and various coin entry type
stuff for 60's wedgeheads, and all transactions were smooth and
problem-free.

Hopefully, he's just travelling and will reply to your inquiries soon.

Will hold a good thought for you in the meantime,

Larry Z.

He should go out of his way to provide proof of shipping.

Is six weeks to Switzerland unreasonable? On something that might look like
a bomb to some scanners? With all carriers tossing service in the wind to
save fuel costs? Maybe it really hasn't gotten there yet. Maybe not.

It was sent to Peter's Florida address. Perhaps the sender could initiate a
search by the post office to see if anything can be found. I had a package
lost some years ago around Christmas time. It went to another state, and got
lost. My post office did some calling and found out it had been delivered by
holiday help, not familiar with the apartment complex. So they thought it
may end up back with me. A third check by my post office found it had been
too large for the mail box so the postal worker left it with the manager. It
took some time but the package did reach it's destination. LTG :)

Oh, OK, my bad. Anything shipped without a tracking number or insurance is
rolling the dice these days. Hopefully it will show up.

I've had numerous packages lost. A couple of them have gotten delivered
to neighbors and I've received several packages and envelopes addressed
to neighbors and had to hand carry them. Needless to say, I'm not real
impressed with my mail carrier, I never had this problem anywhere else
I've lived.

I must say for the record here, that I have had many dealings with Joe
and have never been disappointed. Sometimes the stuff seems to take a
little longer to get here than I would like but Joe has always come
through for me in the end. Hopefully, this will be the case for you.

Too bad you didn't Google him up here first. What you get is the same
MO and a bunch of friends who back him up. How does that explain the

You may want to file a complaint with your local post office. That way you can
be assured of never being bothered with your mail again. ; )

This is funny, but glad I caught it so now Ill defend myself. WHat
this guy doesnt mention is that he asked me to cancel an ebay auction
early to sell him a part. I actually had two sets so I agreed to sell
him the second one if not second chance offers materialize. Now heres
the funny part, Hes from Switzerland and had me send it to Florida. I
didnt catch this at first. All of a sudden he tells me this "mystery"
third person never got it and hed like to know what I can do to make
it up to him. I ask him to tell who this person is I sent it to or
have them call me. He Never does!!! Then the paypal dispute comes in.
Paypals rules are send it to the persons address on the account, so
now Im screwed because it went to Florida not his registered address.
OH well, live and learn. Hey Tom, have you gotten any sleep over that
$20 deal you feel so miserable about? And I offered you a full refund
as listed in "google"

Joe Puddu, firstly it's not funny because I am down $114 and don't
have what I paid you for.

True, I did ask Joe Puddu to end the ebay auction early, as I just
missed out on the first one he sold. Joe agreed to the offer I made.
That was our joint decision then.

Yes I am from Switzerland and I will be at the shipping address in
Florida in person in the next 2 weeks to pick up the packages I had
sent there in the past few months. As you can imagine shipping a card
cage full of PCB's to Florida for me to pick up and put in my luggage
is a much cheaper option than having it shipped directly to
Switzerland.

(And for the record, the other items I have had shipped to the same
address in Florida arrived safely. Only Joe Puddu's parcel failed to
arrvive. Also I have done the same thing before and had things shipped
to a hotel in Montreal and to a friend in California and that was no
problem either!)

As I specifically informed Joe Puddu twice before in emails:
1. The shipping address in Florida is the house of a friend of me and
my wife who we will visit.
2. I am just using her and her house address in Florida as a mailbox.
3. She cannot help resolve the issue of the parcel not arriving, so
her speaking to Joe Puddu on the phone will not have any benefit to
him that I can see.
4. She is a single mother with 2 children who also works full-time
(actually 120%) as a teacher.
5. I have no wish to give her any more stress than she already has in
her daily life and I already feel bad because me or my wife have been
asking her for weeks now if this bloody parcel arrived yet. (My wife
spoke to her yesterday and it still didn't arrive)

Joe Puddu obviously thinks that because of the shipping address and
the out of Ebay deal that I am trying to screw him and that I really
have received the item. Well above, you see the reasons and the truth.
I am not interested in screwing anyone: I am only interested in
receiving what I paid for, just like Joe Puddu and all of you would
be.

I already informed Joe Puddu that he could check rgp to see that I
have a good reputation but that doesn't interest him it appears.

Joe Puddu, nice to see that you can make the effort to defend your
less than perfect reputation on rgp but did not have the interest or
the courtesy to reply to any email I sent to your yahoo.com address
since June 27th, including the last one which warned that if there was
no reply back I would take further action, which includes this rgp
post.

Tomorrow, 5th July I fly to Orlando and I'll be flying back to
Switzerland on the 20th. My wife and kids will be staying at our
friend's house in St. Augustine until the 30th. Like I said before, if
the parcel eventually arrives I will let rgp know but I am not holding
my breath.

Found any proof of postage yet, Joe Puddu?

Happy 4th July to everyone else and regards from Switzerland.

These type deals are always a risk and a recipe for disaster..

NO Paypal confirmed address

NO signature/delivery confirmation

A deal outside ebay with someone you do not know...

International buyer having item shipped to a US address..

Probably stating the obvious, but here are my standard procedures for
dealing with International buyers..

Limit item transaction to under $50 ( that's as much as I would like
to lose)
If shipping to a US address, and item is approaching $50, I utilize
signature confirmation
Feedback.... must have at least a 50 with 100% positive..

Hope you guys work it out.. Both seem like "good" guys in a troubled
situation..

I would just like to point out that in the world outside of Ebay and
Paypal, and that's a world we all still live in, normal standards of
doing business do exist. This means a buyer can make a deal with a
seller and ask for his purchase to be sent wherever and to whosoever
he chooses and, the seller agrees to undertake the requests of the
buyer, his customer.

That means that if I say I want my purchase shipping to Florida where
I will be and not to Switzerland where I am, then that is what the
seller has to do! Whether a shipping address is "confirmed" with
Paypal or not, or an item is purchased through Ebay or not, has
absolutely no relevance!

I paid and gave clear instructions but the item did not arrive at the
address provided, which may or may not be the fault of the seller. The
seller though, Joe Puddu, is unable to prove that he actually sent the
item.

I have tagged Joe Puddu as a bad seller because of the fact he ignores
me and offers no help to either find the parcel he claims to have sent
6+ weeks ago (I paid him on 19th May) or resolve the issue some other
way. In my book, customer service is part and parcel of being a good
seller and I have had no customer service frm Joe Puddu.

I had hoped to resolve it privately where the matter belongs but I got
fed up of being ignored by the other party, who still hasn't bothered
to contact me despite being able to quickly find and respond my
negative post about him here.

As it will make Joe Puddu "happy", I will give him a call when I am at
my friend's place the week after next and he can talk to her and me
all he wants, although I would rather use all the time to enjoy our
family vacation in Florida.

Peter, still in Switzerland for 18 hours or so more.

Peter, to be fair, I would not ship an item paid with paypal to a
non-confirmed address either. When I used to sell on ebay before the
fees got ridiculous, it was clearly stated in the auctions that I would
be shipping to your Paypal confirmed Continental United States address
ONLY. Period. I had lots of people that wanted to bid from overseas,
but the problem there is that there's no proof of shipments being
received..... so the recipient can say they never got it, and I'm out
both the money and the item (unless I got insurance.....)

If you bought something from me with that situation I wouldn't ship it
to you either, I'd just refund your money. I realize that is not what
Joe agreed to do, but you as a buyer do not have the 'right' to demand
it shipped somewhere else. There are lots of huge internet superstores
like Buy.com that will NOT ship to an address other than what your
credit card statement says. They confirm orders, they sent out emails
saying such, but the product will NEVER show up. They just silently
cancel it.

In all probability if Joe cannot provide delivery proof to paypal the
dispute will be decided in your favor, since you do not have the product
that's fair. Anything sent non-signature confirmation is a risk the
seller takes.

Let's understand one thing... I do not have a horse in this... You
posted a bad seller report for several purposes..One is so others have
perspective on this individual. I posted so others can gain
perspective on how I handle ebay/paypal transactions.
With that prefaced, I addressed your comments below.

<<I would just like to point out that in the world outside of Ebay

doing business do exist. This means a buyer can make a deal with a
seller and ask for his purchase to be sent wherever and to whosoever

With all due respect...I never disputed this..
Chances are we would never cross paths unless it was ebay , hence my
school of thought. Also, although I do not agree with all ebay/paypal
policies, there foundation for business practices is not too far off
of normal standards that you refer to..

<<That means that if I say I want my purchase shipping to Florida
where
I will be and not to Switzerland where I am, then that is what the
seller has to do! Whether a shipping address is "confirmed" with
Paypal or not, or an item is purchased through Ebay or not, has
absolutely no relevance! >>

I agree, if that is what parties agree to.. again I defer to my
"school of thought"
Funny though, how there is no relevance, but it certainly played a
part in your surfacing the item(s) and using there system to pay..

<<I paid and gave clear instructions but the item did not arrive at
the
address provided, which may or may not be the fault of the seller.
The
seller though, Joe Puddu, is unable to prove that he actually sent
the
item.>>

Again, never disputed that. I understand your frustration over the
alleged bad communication and the failure to give proof..

This newsgroup offers many things.. friendship, advice, sheep jokes
and perspective.. my post never called your story into question, your
post just allowed me to offer my perspective into the ebay/paypal
aspect.

It seems everytime someone has a problem with a Flea Bay seller they
bring it here to a public forum, and give the guy a "One sided
beating", which is NOT fair. There are THREE side to every divorce
story, His side, Her side , and the Right side. I can see how Peter is
frustrated but He should keep this problem private. I have never had a
problem with Joe, and these sort of problems can happen to anyone who
sells on Flea Bay.

not.

And with due respect I did keep it private for many weeks until such
time as the seller ignored me.

rgp is also a forum in which to help people by warning them: whether
it be to warn them not to unplug displays with the game turned on or
not to deal with someone who takes your money and then has no interest
when the item you bought fails to arrive.

I would also point out that I have been fair and in my posts I have
only stated the fact that Joe Puddu's customer service is a zero,
whihch I have first hand experience of. I have not once stated that he
is crook or liar, as I have no clear evidence of that. If you see Joe
Puddu's counter-post where he outright calls me a scammer without any
evidence at all, you can see that he is not playing so fair. He says a
lot more about himself in this way than I need to say about him.

I have no worries about my good reputation. I am neither desperate nor
pathetic.

I have given Joe the phone number of my friend in Florida by email.
Let's see if he calls her.

Enjoy your weekend. Tomorrow morning we fly to Florida!

I may be in the minority here, but I welcome the bad or good seller
reports.

Even if they are one sided, it gives me some method by which to assess
my risk in establishing a business relationship with many of these
unknown sellers. With pinball it seems many transactions are done
with people hundreds or thousands of miles away and as many have
already stated here, we often have little recourse when a deal turns
sour. I may adn often will choose to ignore bad seller comments but I
would prefer the opportunity to evaluate these before I enter into a
business transaction.

Finally, I often ignore these posts until I purchase something then
search out feedback as a precaution. It is quite easy for those that
don't appreciate these posts to just ignore them as well...so my vote
is keep posting the bad seller threads.

Sorry, but that's why I put in my auctions "usa buyers only" and "will
ship to usa only" to avoid headaches like this. I have had ebay cancel
several auction bids or wins because the buyer is not in the usa. They
think if they just ignore my terms and win the auction I HAVE to send
it to them.
Just because I put an item for sale on ebay doesn't mean I have to do
whatever the winning bidder says.
Especially if my auction description says otherwise.

Okay

I have been gone off here for almost 10 months. I had some bad stuff written about me as well
and I decided to just take some time off. Due to health problems I have had to start selling off a bunch
of machines that I wanted so bad to bring back to life. That was my reason for not reading, posting, etc. on here.

I do read the "pillars of RGP" from time to time and still soak up what I can. I always have learned new things here. Be it work arounds for EM problems or the latest on the newest machines that I just dream about owning. 9 hospital stays in the last 10 months has made it hard to keep up as well.

BUT..............

When I saw this post about Joe, I had to wipe the cobwebs away from my keyboard here and post.

Joe, IMO, is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. YES, he does want to make money on things that he sells or comes across to sell, but don't we all. SECONDLY, he has ALWAYS been forthright and honest with me. I have bought many a machine off of him and we hager back and forth but all in all I am always comfortable with my purchase or outcome.

Along with protecting the streets of Wichita Falls as a police officer, he tries to always meet me when I CAN COME down, not when he might have 30 minutes free and for him, that's rare. The last time I was there it was raining and although I have a lift truck, he helped load two big CCoin World Series EM Pitch and Bats, (If you are familiar, these cabinets are DAMN big) and then he took my come alongs and straightened them out and fixed them so they would work correctly and I would get home okay. Pretty damn nice if you ask me

Enough of all this I just wanted to say that Joe is NOT a liar, cheat or in any way ANYTHING but a great soul that will try to help you as best he can.

My two cents...(WOW, what a way to start posting again!!)

I had 2 separate transactions with Joe and had no issues, the items(stern coin door and NOS Bally coin door skins) arrived well packed and in a timely manor.
I think it was nice of Joe to ship something to Switzerland in the first place since most sellers won't for this very reason. I don't blame him for not taking responsibility for a exported parcel that can't be tracked.

SECONDLY, he has ALWAYS been forthright and honest with me. I have bought many a machine off of him and we hager back and forth but all in all I am always comfortable with my purchase or outcome.

No, we all don't want to make a gouge and money off things we sell.
Many of us trade, give away and don't sell a thing. To assume gougers
and profiteers are the norm is to say the hobby is shit and a garbage bin.

Let Joe defend himself, let him state what he has going on and explain
why folks say he is a POS or whatever they are saying today apposed to
yesterday or last year.

It seems to me that the post office is to blame. They've screwed up on delivering several packages being sent to me.

Don't priority packages come with tracking??

I had a priority mail package go missing with one of my customers. It had $300 worth of circuit boards in it. I created my priority mail label on my computer and shipped it at my work who has a daily mail courier pick up.

The package tracking info only said "electronic shipping info received" for about 3 weeks. I was in full communication with my customer, who was understanding and thankfully didn't come to pinside and RGP to slam me. I was in the process of replacing the boards for my customer when finally i got an email from the post office saying my package finally got scanned at a local post office. A couple days later my customer had the package and all was well.

Nothing like coming back and responding to a 5 year old message, either ;)

I was just thinking how I've seen a lot of people responding to 3-4-5 year old posts, and older. I don't know if people are searching, getting old results and not looking at the date, or what, but it's getting annoying so stop it ok!!!?

Andrew:

don't you just sit and wonder how that happens? It suddenly is located. Glad it worked out but it must be frustrating.

You have to love 'suddenly it was found' resolutions to posting on RGP.
The power of the r.g.p. is at hand, or is it?

Nah, it's actually really funny when they think they're getting a hell
of a deal on a game that's tripled in price since it was posted. Derp
derp newbies.
