I am currently in a position where I want to trade out my Rocky &
Bullwinkle machine in the Grand Rapids area. I have an offer for a
Rollercoaster Tycoon. While I am a fan of PLD machines, it seems the
majority of folks on rgp think it is a real stinker (with the
exception of a few people). Obviously I need to play the game a
little before I decide to make the trade, but do you think from a
value standpoint, I would be making out decent? Playing a few games
before trading likely won't be enough to form a valid opionion. My R&B
is in great condition, but I have not seen the condition of the RCT
yet. Provided it is in good shape, do you think this would be a
resonable trade? Here are some photos of R&B;

Also, I am considering other trade options, so if you have something
locally here, please let me know!

Cheers,

I say give it a try, and if you like it, go for it. I can't see their
values being all that different, if anything you think RCT as a newer
Stern would be worth more than a DE whose theme is hit or miss. RCT
has some crazy ramps, and hey, they both have colored wireforms! But
I've played RCT and owned R&B and art and theme aside, I'd take a RCT
fot it.

As far as straight resale value goes, the RCT is worth much more than
the R&B. Worst case scenario you can sell it for a profit if you play
it for a while and really don't like it.

Thats kind of what I am thinking, Les. But also I am thinking R&B
value is at the point where it will slowly climb where as RCT will
probably continue to quickly lose value......

I like RCT and have one that is HUO. It is a fun game and the kids
like it a lot.
Troll gets a little annoying, I suck and hear "You missed everything"
more often than not. :)
Make sure you like the game, reselling it is nearly impossible unless
you give it away.

Hmmm... I don't think R&B will ever be a "valuable" pin so I wouldn't
worry about that, I think they're both gonna be b-grade games (nothing
wrong with that!) at the lower end of the price spectrum. If the RCT
is in good shape and you like to play it, I wouldn't worry too much
about "future" value.
