I am chock full of pins at 25. But, I am WAY into comic books and this
one is just screaming at me. I think some shuffling will have to occur
because I think I might have to have this title. I cannot wait for
information on Spiderman!!
Doug
It is accurate. Via my sources. But let's focus on the current pin
Family Guy.
As soon as more info on Spiderman comes my way or info changes I will
update.
I know one thing for sure, the art package will be one of the most
stunning in Stern history. Thanks to SRP/Marvel/Sony Pictues ltd.

Thanks for the positive remarks Mark. :-)
they better get someone from the comic book to do the machine art.
seriously, a spiderman movie pin would be weak. a comic book
spiderman pin that came out along with the movie would be a much much
better idea.
hello.
If the ART was based on the Comic book and anyone from STERN is
listening -
TODD McFARLANE did the best renditions of Spiderman -
As for focusing on Family Guy - Well, though I have not played it, the
Mini Pinball taking up close to 1/6th of the playfield still hurts it
in my eyes cause I see it as a disaster for future maintenance and I
think it is down right cheap looking - (Kinda like those new toy
pinballs that you can get at Best Buy "Marvel and POTC".
Now - The animations on the Matrix are nice and I love some of the
quotes that I have seen on the video - Just something don't feel
right.
But I could be wrong since I was wrong about NASCAR and I kinda like
that now.

That is a matter of opinion. I think the ONLY artist to capture Spidey
and his supporting cast best is far and away Steve Ditko. He pretty
much created the character, regardless of what Stan Lee claims. John
Romita also did great work on the title. I didn't particularly care
for McFarlane's exagerated style with giant eyes and tiny ankles. He
was *different* and caused a commotion and a stream of imitators, but
it didn't say much for him that so many other artists could replicate
his style almost perfectly in zero time. I think George Perez or Terry
Austin (or both together, that's a team that is very hard to top)
would be good. I prefer the cleaner, more realistic styles. However,
it doesn't matter, I'm getting one anyway. No way I'm missin this one.
I will lead the Marvel Zombie March to buy this game!
Steve, Lyman, and the rest of the Stern gang on a mammoth title, I see
nothing but greatness! I do hope they pull out the stops on the
artwork and let someone talented really fill the playfield and glass
with fine comic-style artwork with heaps of villians (even if they
don't appear in the movie) and supporting cast. Photoshop will NOT be
a good thing. This license *demands* a return to drawn artwork
graphics, not cheapo photoshop pictures.
Looking down the road, at all the Marvel movies slated (and DC for
that matter), this could be the first in a series of Stern Hero games
from Stern. I can see an AVENGERS in my future ;)

Stern if you're listening. This is the one to swing for the fences
on, like LOTR! Please pull all the stops. Don't cut corners on art
or playfield mechanics. Give this one the budget it deserves. As the
owner of two NIB Sterns, I have held that I won't buy any more NIB
pins and take the depreciation hit, but I pledge I *WILL* buy this
game NIB if you do it up right. You don't get too many title
opportunities of this caliber (only LOTR, TSPP and Elvis compare),
PLEASE make the absolute most of it. Treat the title right and I'm
*sure* you will sell more games.

not a big issue: i work on video games as a living, and use Photoshop
to create textures and many hand drawn assets/paintings. Oftentimes
there isnt a Photo involved at all. There are a ton of tools and
brushes that the artist can paint with in Photoshop, add the heavy
image editing capabillities, and you have a tool that many people use
in a variety of different methods, from Photo collaging, to Hand
painting from scratch.
Just wanted to point out that if an art workflow incorporates
Photoshop, that does not imply Photographic images are being used. It
is typically raster, and falls in line with the printing style i've
seen Stern do (where you see 4 color CYMK dots upon close inspection).
So i would expect them to use it.
I get your point on the art look tho, and agree.. I really really hope
that there is no photo (or handdrawn :) ) Toby McGuire head on this
upcoming title, but my Spidey sense tells me otherwise.
if they jam Bruce campbell onto the playfield in some small place, you
can sign me up for a copy :)

Jim Lee was a devotee of McFarlane but I actually liked his style
better. In the end though the sameness pushed me away, or should I say
back towards the classic Ditko and Romita. I just love John Romita's
works anyway and after meeting him and having him do a few skethches I
appreciated him even more. He puts heart into his characters. I also
think just about anything drawn by Simon Bisely kicks ass. He puts some
meat on dem bones :)
Too bad Matt Baker never got into pinball art back in the day he would
have made Roy Parker look like a crayon artist. Can you imagine a
Phantom Lady or Sheena:Jungle Queen pinball? Man oh man :)

Unfortunately I don't think either type of rendering really affects
the cashbox so we'll get whatever's cheaper. I simply do not like
movie "photos" "shopped" up and put on a machine as "graphics". It
looks cheap and tacky, IMO, like a magazine cover. I will live with it
if that's the case, but one can hope and dream...:)
