Powerball - Should it work on mini playfield

My Twilight has a Powerball that is not an original part. I know this
because it is yellow. It functions like a Powerball because it is
light and flies around the playfield and the machine states Powerball
when it is released. My question is should this ball work with the
magnets in the mini playfield? I know the original Powerballs are
supposed to be ceramic, do these work in the mini playfield?

Thanks

The Powerball contains no metal, so it is not affected by magnets. You
definitely have a non-metal ball in your game, but if it's really
yellow, I doubt it's a real Powerball.

Powerballs are not affected by either the powerfield or spiral magnets.

If the powerball is even making it on to the mini-playfield, you have a
problem with one of your proximity sensors. Once the pin detects a powerball
via the proximity sensor, it makes The Power unavailable. So outside of a
random airball that may put your ball on the mini-playfield, the gate on the
right ramp should never open for a powerball.

If this is occurring, check the states of your proximity sensors. The one
that breaks the most is in the through where the balls launch into play
(switch 26). Sometimes it just needs to be adjusted but every now and again
you may have to replace it due to damage.

Yellow powerball huh? I have never seen a factory yellow powerball.
Non-aftermarket powerballs should look pearl in color, but can vary slightly
because of use. I know that a while back someone was making after market,
colored powerballs.

Thats just it, my Powerball does work in the mini playfield. It is
almost a neon yellow, which is great because there is no mistaking it
for the other balls. But the machine does call it out when it comes
into play "Powerball". How can it recognize it as the Powerball yet
still have metallic properties to work in the mini playfield?

Thanks

For those who do, no explanation is necessary.
For those who don't, no explanation is possible.

Nope. Think about it:

For the magnet to work, it needs something metal that can be attracted.
Ceramic, plastic or whatever your powerball is made of is NOT magnetic by
any means. Another way to tell is to put a magnet on the ball itself. Does
it hold tight or fall off?

Answer: You have a Viper Night Drivin' ball. It has a metal core, so the
magnets can affect it, yet it has the yellow surface that insulates the core
from the proximity enough so it doesn't register.

So apparently the answer to my question those long months ago is yes, the
viper night drivin ball will work (if only somewhat) in a TZ as the
powerball.
Cool to know. I wonder how many VND Glo-balls there are floating around?
WHOOPS! There they went. Next stop-Egay at $150 a pop. Bleh...

Sigh.... yet another game I haven't played yet. So tell me a bit about Night
Drivin. Fun? Cool?
And, what does it want this semi-magnetic ball for?

Yuck, ptooie, nasty, blech,thhhwwwwwitttt!!

You haven't missed a thing. Only the second pin
I ever walked away from in the middle of a game.
A horrible and unfortunate machine to have been
asscociated such a fine American automobile.

The ball, that has some sort of 'golf ball' type coating
on it, is supposed to glow under the blacklights that are
used on the playfield. Doesn't help the game at all. Nasty
dirty playfield on every one I ever saw. Balls are usually
black. Playfield art is bad, too.(Maybe it's good that they
are always filthy.)

Save your coins for a Popeye............

LOL! That distinction goes to a brand new Waterworld. I
played
that game for near an hour before I just gave up. (Felt like
JS!)

ViperND didn't hold my interest past the 2nd

Twister's actually fun when it works. Did you ever get to play a decent

Another way it happens is if you're playing a location game which has a
problem (and they ALL have a problem). For example if the gumball
machine isn't loading it starts compensating by giving you a powerball
every third time. So you end up with a powerball on the field during
Powerball Mania. At that point it's very easy to get the powerball into
the miniplayfield. I know this from bitter experience ;-)

Also, every once in a while you can sneak one through during Multiball
if you happen to have the powerball out on the field. I've done it a few
times.

But yes, on a working game, it should be a very rare occurrence.
