Are there any other EM pins that were remade in SS version later on
with basically the same PF layout? I am not talking about games that
were made in both EM and SS during the changeover period, like
Cleopatra, Joker Poker, Black Jack, etc. I am referring to what
Gottlieb was doing in the early 80's with titles like Royal Flush
Deluxe, Jacks To Open and Eldorado City of Gold which were exact PF
layout duplicates of their EM counterparts from the mid-70's.

I would like to start collecting them, but never see them anywhere.
If anyone in the Philadelphia area has any that you want to unload,
let me know.

Rondondo:

Pinball Pool is pretty similar to Hot Shot.

These are the only one's I can think of for Gottlieb;

Orbit (76) = Super Orbit (83)
Royal Flush (76) = Royal Flush Deluxe (83)
Fast Draw (75) = Amazon Hunt (83)
Jacks Open (77) = Jacks to Open (84)
El Dorado (75) = El Dorado City of Gold (84)

Yeah, it sure did. Exact same game except the zipper flippers aren't
present on the SS version.

What a sad day for SS games. Take a wonderful, profitable EM game and
make it a SS. Not a bad idea- but the ending game really sort of
sucked.

It is almost like GTB did this to save on R&D money.

Yea, the newer versions of the game didn't translate well to SS (although the art work was
nice). They were boring to play and easier to beat compared to the EM versions (for some
strange reason). I guess Gottlieb found that once it's been done, you can't go back, I don't
think they ever tried it again after the games I listed.
Gottlieb tried making the same game but with different art in the 40's (Maisie = Flying
Trapeeze for example) but it worked for them back then and I think Bally did it in the 70's but
with limited success (Champ = a few others). I don't know if William's ever did it, anyone?

Yes, but with long flippers and an up-post instead of zipper flippers.

They sure did! Just like they did long before SS was around!
All the original AAB designs that were tried as replay versions,
(Buckaroo, Crosstown to name a few), and of course, the "Re-replay"
Games, (Atlantis, Spinout, Mibs, etc.), done again, years after it's
original.....Not to be confused with the "Re-ordered" Games, (4
Belles, Bowling Queen, etc.)...
I know this is a little off the topic, but, it's really the same
thing, saving on R&D, except, the background sounds on the SS, I
thought, were pretty good........
