Just a query about ROM Chips that are used in WPC Machines, I need to
purchase a M27C2001 for my Addams to be able to upgrade to Gold function and
play.
I have noticed the Eprom Chips come in all different speeds on the net
and all my machines have ST Chips fitted that all have -12F1 on the end of
the model number that denotes its a 120ns Chip, I contacted a Semiconductor
Seller near me and he has ST M27C2001 Chips in stock however the ones he has
have different -xxxx at the end of the model number so I am wondering if
these numbers on the end of the chips make any difference or can any speed
M27C2001 Chip be used? Just want to know before I purchase a chip with a
different number.
I have also noticed when I click on the data sheets of all the different
M27C2001 chips I have seen they all seem to point to the same data sheet.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Regards,
Kevin
Most WPC games I've owned did have 120ns chips in them (-12) from the
factory, but 150ns seems to be fast enough from my experiences. Good to
know, too, as 150ns are substantially cheaper than 120ns.
