I wanted to share the details of trade that didn't work out well for me so
others may be aware of the trader and avoid similar situations.

A few weeks ago I posted my Williams Pharaoh pinball machine for sale. Troy
Laurent contacted me and offered a straight trade for his Space Station. He
sent pictures and we discussed the trade on the phone, leading me to believe
everything was working and good with the game; it was even decked out with
LEDs.

We made plans to make the trade at on Thursday of Pinball Expo at 5pm so it
would still be light out to examine the games. Troy called and said he was
running late, so the trade didn't happen until around 8pm, when it was dark
and raining, so we hurriedly transferred games. I didn't think twice about
not having a chance to look over the game beforehand as the pictures looked
ok and Troy seemed like a good guy. However, he handed me a bag of parts
for a slingshot and a ball gate assembly, saying that it needed a bit of
repair (I figured some light repairs wouldn't be big deal).

I got the game home and set up and both of the lower displays did not work.
I checked everything over and couldn't find a cause other than the displays
just failed. I contacted Troy and he called saying that when he got the
game, the displays worked and that a few weeks prior to trade, they stopped
working. He told me he figured it was a simple problem that I could fix on
my own. In looking at the pictures he sent me originally, the lower
displays were not working at that time, but I had figured the timing of the
picture just happened to be when the displays weren't displaying any data.

I asked Troy to paypal me $100 so that I could fix the issue. Since that
time, he has just ignored my emails and I haven't heard anything from him.
I ordered an LED replacement board and that works great, so I'm certain that
it was the displays themselves that failed.

Below is a list of all the items that I needed to address on the Space
Station (some items are a bigger deal than others):

Both lower displays had failed.
Right sling-shot assembly was broken.
Ball gate assembly not installed.
Head lock key broken off in lock.
Left slingshot playfield LEDs missing.
Leg levelers rusted and deteriorated to the point of needing to be replaced.
Right flipper button broken.

I wanted to put this information out there to prevent others from having
similar issues in the future. I've been in the hobby almost nine years and
this is the first time I really feel that I was intentionally misled about
the condition of the game. I spent a good amount of time going through
Pharaoh prior to the trade to insure that the game would be in good working
condition for the next owner.

Thanks,
Eric

I agree Eric. I am trading machines with someone very soon and I am
going through the machine with a fine tooth comb. I don't ever want to
be "that guy".
