Helped a friend unbox his tron pro the other day, and it was one of the new
machines with decals. I'd heard some rumblings that people might not be happy
with decals, so I thought ahead and brought my camera with.

After seeing it in person, I can't really see what the big deal is. Looks fine to
me; unless I really went up to the cabinet and looked specifically for the decals
it wouldn't jump out at me at a glance.

Eh, pictures, thousand words, pound 'em & make up your own mind:

Did you happen to notice how the cabinet front cut-outs look? Because
that's the most glaringly bad area for Stern decals, at least judging
from Transformers.

In the photo with Steve, it looks like the right side might be more
vivid & sharp than the original Tron cab, which already looks fantastic.

Look into adding the metal corner plates that they put on AC/DC to stop
the legs from wrinkling the decals (like what happenend to the TF
games). I would even make them out of aluminum angle material if I had
to in an attempt to avoid that serious problem.
Dunno if there are any pics out there of the wrinkled decals on the TF
games or not. Hopefully someone on the site will have more info on that
issue and fix.

There's no way I pushed that game hard enough to tilt

This game had the decals cut around where the legs would attach to the cabinet.

Wow, what a difference! The images and colors are so much brighter and
clearer than the original screened cabinets. I would love to see what
LOTR would look like with decals.

When I picked up my Tron I had the choice, the decals look much
brighter but the screen game will wear better over time IMHO. I just
wanted art work that was more wear resistance. It was a long term wear
issue. All my buddies that have TEXAS sized belt buckles rubbing
against the side of my games. The decal looks good for sure!

I didn't really notice anything there / didn't take a close-up picture there.
Probably the best photo is Steve sporting his "HOW the hell did you say this thing
latches?" face:

I know that upon unboxing there were a few places where I thought to myself, "dang,
this art is already scratched up", only to run my fingers over the art and find out
nope... that's the art itself! (...that's a good thing. :) )

Hey Yancy, they look great around the coin door. No funny edges or
corners. No issues all to my eye with the decals. They do seem sharper
and less pixelated than say my former FGY.

Hey, and many, many thanks to Korn for helping move three games. Thank
you, Vince. A pin good Samaritan. He broke down his loaner ES, moved
set up Tron , and moved JD to my garage for a pick up

I call these photos "diet motivators". At least no bald spot pics were

Your color looks great! So vivid and just pops out at ya! Trimmed and groomed so nicely! Not many wrinkles that I can see... Great looking! Oh, and the Tron pin looks decent as well... :-)

Congrats Steve, you do look happy!

Tron is a fun, fast playing, intense game. My first true nib.

Resolution looks great. I thought all the new decal cabs were gonna
have the metal leg brackets to protect from wrinkling. Or is that only
on LE's?

Decals on my new LTBR look great. Metal cabinet protectors seem like
a good idea as well. I put cabinet protectors on them anyway as these
are not yet proven.

Sorry, But the Decals used are thinner than paper.
Why not spend a buck or two and get decent quality material and print
the while sides, instead of having the Decals made with the cutting
around legs and front door etc.
Bad idea in my opinion. Cheap!

Does anyone sell these new metal leg protectors like on ACDC? I
would like to buy a couple of sets, I really like them.
