It is going to be interesting to see how much this game brings. I,
unfortunately, can only drool.

You can bet that, no matter how nice of shape, the entry cost for any
Lotus is only going to be the tip of the iceberg. But that just means
you need to make the entry point as low as possible, right? So what do
you think, is $17,500 low enough for this blue bullet?

The game looks great. With that said, how does one know it is truly a
gold edition BBB? I am not saying this one is not, but what stops an
individual from putting gold trim on their BBB and claim it is a gold?
Again, I am in no way insinuating this is not the real deal, just asking
much like a gold elvis?

All Big Bang Bar prototype serial numbers begin with a zero. Serial
number is not only on the plaque but it is also impact stamped onto the
playfields front edge and again on the head and cabinet in the rear.
Prototypes also have a white insert between the pop bumpers while
production games have an amber color insert.

Terms of the eBay auction state "Returns: 3 days item exchange only".
How many games do you think I could play in 3 days? And what other
$17,500 item would I exchange the BBB for?

The Esprit is a really cool car. Too bad you need to be 5'10" or less
to be comfortable in the damn thing. Plus, like you said anyone who
has ever purchased an older exotic car knows the purchase price is
just a tip ;-)

Or how long would it take to remove the seller's big dick from your ass
after you paid for it and then wanted to return the item. I mean
really, are people this stupid to buy and actually not inspect the item
prior to bidding/purchase/win to know its the real deal?

Even after reading the auction, I'm still confused. Is this one of the
original 14 prototypes, or did IPB make a handful of "Gold" ones?

waltr

IPB made 10 proto's with gold trim with ser#'s 01-10. The machine for
sale is 09 from IPB.
The original 14 were not offered in gold.
And just a side note, All of us that purchased a machine from Gene were
offered a gold package, not just the 1st 10. I didn't think the gold
looked as good as the black does, so I chose black. Also saved a $$.

Don't count on playing it if you bought it. That would just ruin the
resale value. This is one machine you'd want to buy and put it in a
room and never plug in and never touch. In order to avoid UV fading,
you better just store it in a dark room and never turn on the light.
It's best not to even look at the machine.

This is so counter intuitive to the casual player, casual collector,
restorer, serious player, and even serious collector (for most parts).
The idea of buying a machine, which will not even hold value over the
next 10-20 years as the population of collectors dies and the wasteland
of boxes goes to waste even more, to invest is stupid. Play the fucking
thing, and charge to play it. Gary is right, folks need to go out and
play pinball, that is where the system ends and without it the system of
design, manufacturing, distribution and consumption fails.

This is not where the business as a hobby needs to be.

I'm just going to turn off the light in my closet and close the door and
never look in there and pretend i have a gold BBB in there. It's
basically going to equate to owning this one. Hell, I might as well
pretend i have a mint MM in there as well. Guess i'm a high roller now!

Whoever buys the BBB will definitely play it and would want all of their
friends to play and enjoy it too.
They wouldn't buy it for an investment, it would be bought to play.

Walt, youre mistaken on one point. IPB made 20 prototypes. 18 were made
in gold, one in green armor and one in purple armor. I interviewed both
Gene Cunningham and Fred Fyfe on this very subject for the Internet

I was thinking about that after I posted it. I remember Kim having the
green one and I remember the Purple, but I thought the 1st 10 were
protos #01 was gold ($12,000), #02-#10 were Brass plated($7500) and the
regular production #1 was also gold ($12,000). This is from the paper
work sent to me from Gene with my machine

I should have added this was the original plan, things do change.

Also, my apologies to the seller. This should have been a new topic.
It was late when I posted.
