I've been collecting and shooting medium and large bore handguns for about ten
years and have a collection containing 24 pistols and 19 revolvers.

Fortunately, in my county, it's easier to buy a handgun than it is a pack of
cigarettes or a bottle of wine!

Metal detecting, Drumming and Home Brewing! Will be making my first Black & Tan
tonight. Just in time for New Years.

I am also a collector of anything that I *might* need "some day". My girlfriend
calls it a pack rat, but she doesn't understand ;-)

I have dabbled in many hobbies, including a frame off restoration of a '57 Chevy 2
dr hdtp, photography, and electronics. Of course, pinball is new to me (15
months), and my longterm hobby has always been model railroading (in which I've
published modeling articles 10 times). I have submitted my first pin article to
Gameroom magazine, and am working on a second regarding my Eight Ball Deluxe
restoration.

Hobbies tend to come in waves for me. Pinball is #1 on my list for the past year
and a half.
My indoor plants ( 30 ) are starting to complain that I don't pay as much
attention to them as before. My body is complaining that it's not getting enough
workouts. ( maybe it's an age thing ).
I have a large record collection (1000?) that I'd like to transfer parts of to
CD. Most of them are 70's & 80's hard rock. ( a collective groan from my parents
who had to put up with my music ) The metal guitar lessons are still waiting for
me to practice. ( maybe by the time I'm 50 I'll be good enough to start my band -
Geezer ). My recumbant bicycle has taken a back seat during the summer to the
1000 Virago. ( I call it my 1000 viagra - puts lots of power between my legs )
The cat scratching post ( hobby/ business ) has been slowed down due to lack of
time for proper marketing. ( the cat's happy though - one post for each of her
favourite windows ) .
I'm not a computer expert but would like to find some time and learn more about
the computer.
( web page building , investing, e-bay etc. etc.) I used to read a lot of novels
( haven't read one for probably three years) Reading the newspaper takes an hour
each day. Checking RGP and e-mails is another time consumer. Playing hockey once
or twice a week is getting tough.

After typing all this out I've come to the conclusion that I have to cut down on
the number of things I'd like to do otherwise I'll never get good at anything. :
(

Thanks for the self help session:
Happy Flipping;

I really like ROLLERCOASTERS, and have often driven WAY too far to ride one.
The best yet that I've seen is Steel Phantom, in Kenneywood park (near

likely kick it's ass!!!!!!!

I really hope it's as good as they are making it sound!!

I wondered the same thing. But not being much of a poster, I figured
someone would eventually ask! It's interesting to see if any other
pinheads have similar interests. I love golf, fishing (that includes
ice fishing, rare for a woman!), bowling and how I miss my motorcycle!
But the pin I bought in place of it was worth it - for now.

I got into collecting pitch and bats from my collecting vintage baseball
memorabilia. Recently purchased a '59 Cadillac and plan to use it to pull my
older travel trailer ('63 Traveleze). Have a decent set of post war Lionel
pieces. Went rock climbing a month or so ago for the first time, not sure I'll
commit this to a hobby yet. Trout fishing, smoking cigars, and listening to the

Good thread.

Me - I am into stand up comedy - the decent US stuff such as Bill
Hicks, Denis Leary (not as good as Hicks IMHO), and also am into movies
in a big way.

Enjoy snooker, pool and music (inc. Chris Rea) but I would have to say
playing pins is my main hobby.

Me too, and one has only to look at my tag to see what else I am
interested in... Oenophile is a lover of wine for those that do

earlier), ham radio.

My wife's hobby: cats (she gets 1 kitten for every new pin!!!), and
complaining about all of the junk in the house. ;-)

Along with PB, the other big ones are: motocross and snowboarding
Lesser ones are: Ultimate frisbee and frisbee golf, volleyball, comic
collecting, and guitar playing
Of course all of the above are superceded by the availability of an
interested female!!!! (preferably one who likes PB and MX and can
snowboard, haven't found her quite yet though)

Other hobbies that I have (ranked according to how much time I spend
on each):

Creating and solving (mainly solving) math (especially algebra)
puzzles,
Bowling,
Listening to any type of fast paced music, sound, or TV theme,
Reading various magazines (Scientific American, Games Mag,
Kliplinger's Finance, and solving some of the puzzles in Dell's Math
and Logic Problems magazine),
Chess (don't play that much now as I used to while I was in high
school),
Playing with my GameBoy
Card games, and
Crocheting (haven't done this in a few years though).

My main hobbies, though, are playing pinball, running a pinball league
(I'm running two leagues a year) , and bowling.

The only thing I collect is Viewmaster. My main hobby (until recently) was live
music - every concert I could cram into my life and a bajillion cd's. Other
interests are history, fiction, and swimming.

What a joke...actually it is the only game Mike Snider cannot play. We must
have played for six hours and I wasn't even trying, but beat him badly just the
same.

Nice try Mike - what is actually funny is you wait for me to leave the country
to chirp. Well, I am back now to set the record straight...

Cool thread... in reading through the messages that've racked up over the past
day or so, I keep saying "hey, I like that too!" ... :-)

Active hobbies besides pinball include: computer programming (in addition to
what I do at my full time job - ack!), analyzing the stock market, skiing (only
~2 weeks a year usually, wish it was more), playing in the ocean, travelling in
general, and the most recent addition, "educated" gambling (analyzing and
playing positive-expectation blackjack and video poker, mostly).

On the inactive list: classic vids (Joust/Defender/Tempest, that era), model
railroads (haven't done in many years, want to get back someday).

I guess I should be happy. Riverside Park in my town will now become
Six Flags New England. With a new coaster, Superman - Man of steel or
something like that! I'll miss the race track but I gotsta check out the

Hmm. Only have four strings on mine. Rickenbacker 4001 and an Ibanez
copy of that one.
Used to play in a Thrash Metal band, but that split up and now I look
for something
more spaced out (like Hawkwind, BOC, Floyd, Rush, etc.)...

Also, British Sports Cars (which go NEATLY around corners, I noted you
guys are
mostly into big cast iron block US muscle cars with leaf springs ;).
My daily ride is virtually parked at http://www.flash.net/~coaster1/lotus.htm
(the Pretty Woman variety) If you have nice cars, you might want to park them
there, too! Oh, I also have an old Lotus Esprit S2 (the James Bond
variety) that
has been under constant restoration for 10 years now.

And of course, working to save for a bigger place that will take more pinballs.

I love to snow ski and water ski. I really enjoy good video games (but prefer
pinball). I also am starting to indulge in a hankering for good artwork.
Recently bought an impressionist print from J. Picot for a bargain, and
currently have commissioned a friend of my father's who carves birds out of
wood to make me a model of my favorite bird, the Bald Eagle. This guy is SO
GOOD, I just gave him catre blanche on it. All I said was "Bald Eagle." And
I'll pay him whatever he asks.

I'm also beginning to show interest in travel (my trip to Australia was even
beyond my overhyped expectations), and driving--fast. Hey, when you've got an
'88 Ford Crown Vic on I-696, you're gonna be gunning it too. One of these
days, I'm going to get myself a BIG time speeding ticket. But not today! I
may be fast, but I'm VERY safe, and not in the least bit careless, reckless, or
rude.

There are other things like my workouts with my best friend, but that's all
just part of life.

I don't think I replied to this yet, and not that many people care
'bout what I do outside of goofing off, I'm sure this will tickle your fancy.
:>

I collect animation cels, more prominently, Anime cels. Along the same
lines, yes, I'm into Anime.
Another hobby of mine is Radio, right now I work for a Network,
starting early next year I'll be on air on KEPC out here in the Springs, and
be an intern at KKFM (also here in the Springs.) For those of you that think
this is mor of a carreer than a job, lemme tell you, it is NOT. Radio DOES
NOT PAY to be a job.
Uhm.. Other hobbies? I do some writing for a friend who's an artist,
mostly in Anthropormorphics. (Don't know? Don't ask. You aren't missing
anything.)

If you weren't worried about me before, you probably are now. :>

Me.

As you all know, I'm a record collector. I'm glad to see so many RGPers
involved with music. Maybe some of you will see your pinball song issued
on Extra Ball Records (from Multiball magazine).

Another hobby that I indulge in passively is one I have yet to see mentioned
in this thread, despite its close affiliation to coin-op games: coin and
token collecting!

I've got a fair collection of tokens, most of them from arcades I've
never been to. I find them in the bottom of cabinets, and stuck in
coin mechs, and I throw them in a jar.

I've never been much of a hobbyist; I'm not even terribly serious
about "collecting" pinball machines. I am fascinated by motion
pictures, probably more than the average person is, but less than some
are. I love music, but doesn't everyone? I bought a LOT of records
when I was in middle school and high school, but now I generally don't
buy more than three or four per year.

I'd love to be able to sit down and read for a few hours a night, but
the circumstances of my life in the coin-op biz make this impossible
right now. Oh well...

New hobbies: Crossbow hunting and fishing. I once caught 2 snappers
simultaneously and almost landed a nurse shark once! Perhaps a new idea for
Fishtales 2.....?

Also fitness. I jog almost everyday and do at least 300 pushups daily. I go to
Bally's (the gym not <sob> the pinball company) a few times a week.

The movies (esp. Pay-Per-View), bowling, hydrosliding, waterskiing and computer
graphic design.
