Hello to all - I am NEW to this forum HOWEVER not new to reading it almost evey day!
I have a Williams Ringer that I want to get working for my collection. The issue is the game keeps cycling and never stops after the start buttom is pushed! Like when an EM pin score wheel is not at zero and everything keeps "running". I did look at the score wheels and they reset as they should - they all go back to zero. All score wheel switches are adjusted properly.
Can someone please lead me in a "fix it" direction??
Thanks in advance - for any HELP... This is kicking my a$$

rest of the EM portion of the game is pretty simple, as far as that
goes. It's just a handful of relays and a stepper unit or two.
Of course that stuff needs to be good too, but it's less of an issue
than those caps!

Ok
I replaced the caps and the game still cycles like the score wheels are not reset.
Any more ideas out there??
Thanks for the help!

I may have schematics for the game if it would help

Check the game over relay in the bottom back left of the game. Also, make
sure both sets of score reels are zeroed out qand the 0 position switches
are making good contact.

If you need a schematic, email me.

The reels may all be reset to zero, but are all of the reels' "zero
pos. switches" open / closed? I can't remember if WMS opens or closes
the reel switches at zero - I think open. If so, do you have a manual
for the game, and does it describe the reset sequence? Some WMS
manuals will lay out the start up sequence, while others don't.

Lee, to answer your question, Ringer is not a pin. It's a pub/arcade
game from 1970 and contains logic and components that EM pins also
used.

Powdernoid, how is the backglass? This machine's glass has already been
reproduced, if needed maybe you could get a copy:

In any case I agree with the last several posts on where to start and if
you don't have a schematic, take up one of those offers and get a copy.

On this game all 0 position switches should open when each score reel is at
0. This is shown in the Instruction manual a bit clearer.

The reset circuit is as follows:
Shot counter unit stepper --> (4) 0 position switches (series) --> Score
Motor Cam 0 and Cam 5 switches (parallel) --> Lock relay contact --> Game
Over Reset Coil

If the OP still needs a schematic or instruction manual, email me.

The timer circuit on this game is only used to make sure that the horeshoe
has stopped and essentially "timed out" before advancing the player unit
and/or the shot count unit. If the cap or resistor are bad it will start a
game but will either not advance to the next shot/player or it will advance
mid throw...both of which are annoying.

Thanks for everyone's input! I will be looking at the score wheels again. I don't think ALL the switches are OPEN at zero. I did see that in the manual (pinrepair version).
I did get a BG from Steve at BGresto - very nicely DONE!
I can jump out the gameover switch and continuously play the game.
It has to be something every easy that I am over complicating for sure!
Thanks again - I will be working on this later today

I went over the score wheels, actually took them apart and cleaned them - why not I am looking them over anyway! The score wheels are in order. Unfortunately I do not see this as the issue....
Still a$$ kicked, usually this isn't the case for me...
Looking for someone who has a Ringer and maybe experienced this propblem.
Thanks to all again!

I am looking to buy a Ringer. Do you know of anyone that has one for sale?
Thank you.
