and he had about 30 in a wearhouse. He told me if I came an hauled
them all off, I could have them for $50 each. My jaw dropped when
upon arrival I found 2 Haunted houses, a Black Hole, F-14, 3 Black
Knights, a Rocky, 2 Gorgars, 2 Xenons, 3 Paragons and several other A
list games. Along with the inventory of parts and pinballs, the guy
gave me a list of every arcade vendor in the Louisiana/E Texas area
that he dealt with during the 70s & 80s when he was in business.
There must have been 100 lisitings. Over the last year I have tracked
down several of these out of business owners. Alot with stories such
as, "I sold 100 pinballs at super auctions 5 years ago for $50 a
game", Dam, But, luckily enough I have be able to contact 5 or 6
indiviuals with stories of, "yeah, I have a wearhouse with 10, 15, 20,
30 pinballs and you can have them all for $50, $100, each! Woohoo!
Well last week was the biggest hit yet. A guy I contacted on the list
a couple months ago and got 12 machines from, told me of a wearhouse
in Northern LA that was owned by a guy from Arkansas (lets call him
Tom). Ironicaly enough, his name was on my list given to me last year
but his phone number was no longer in service so It was a dead end at
that point. I was told that he and TOM were good friends and he would
pass my number to TOM but TOM was 85 so there was no gaurantee Id hear
from him. Well, last week, Tom calls me. He says he has a wearhouse
located near Texarkana and in side it he has approximately 75 pinballs
that have been there for 20-25 years. He goes on to tell me that they
are mostly old pins from the 70s and 80s and he just wants them out.
He names a price if Ill take them all. I cant pass it up. Well
inspection day arrives and Woohoo! Louisiana is Officially the Holly
Grail for Hidden pinballs!

I didn't know there were that many though. At the TX Pinball Festival
there was a restored Stern with their vending tag right on the apron.
I got a nice kick from that.

I may have run onto one of your guys on the list the last time I was
down there in Louisiana picking up a game or two for people. I was
able to go through the paperwork files of an old operator guy near
Baton Rouge who told a similar sell-off story like the one you
related--sold a hundred or so games for about $50 each just to get
them gone. In his files was some paperwork to an old Bally Six Shooter
machine which I've been looking for for a long time. So if you end up
with one of those it may have been his old game. Call me if you
do! :)

every single purchase.
Of course if you do happen to be lucky enough to find something even
remotely of any value ($1500 MM comes to mind), its only an end player.
Wrap it up and stick it in your garage for a few years.
Face it, you bought someone's junk, not even worth the $50 a game you
paid. Sorry to be the barer of bad news.

Man, you got issues. Jealousy, anger, a big mouth, and the desperate need for
acceptance seem like the overbearing ones. The more successful hobbyists come
in with an attitude of wanting to learn, instead of immediately taking the
stance that they already know everything. Honestly though I pretty much had you
pegged from your whining about that operator that wouldn't sell to you several
months ago.
