It seems to me over the past year or so that the volume of machines
being listed for sale has tapered off significantly. I feel like 3-4
years ago that the number of daily listings and machines swapping hands
was higher.

Some say it's a result of higher prices, so the buying pool has gotten a
little smaller, but if that's the case, why didn't it expand the B title
market?

*Speaking of your personal experience, have you slowed down on selling
machines and rotating what you have in your collection? *I have. I was
going from 2-3 new machines coming and going a month for a while to not
having bought or sold a machine for about a year and a half now.

Don't want to sell anything because if I decide I want to buy it back a year from
now, it'll have gone up at least $500. Cheaper to hold onto it until I'm dead
sure I don't want it.

Somewhat. Somewhat not; gotten some stupid money for games lately and haven't
been sad they went for that much.

In my area, the number of machines listed is still high but so are the
prices. Consequently there are a lot of re-listings taking place and
it seems buyers are becoming more selective or simply buying fewer
machines due to price.

Personally I haven't purchased or sold a machine in over a year. I've
decided to stand clear while the bubble inflates and just enjoy what I
have.

Simple, I pay high, but can't sell high. I just hang onto them now. I find nice examples worth keeping.

I set up three machines, and rotate them so I don;t get tired.

More people came into the hobby.
They found keepers for them.
Expect this to continue.

Expect the bubble to burst, the number of machines is still high just
not as many machines on the market due to not selling and too high
pricing. Yep, some sell, most don't, and folks are getting 'educated'
and will drive pricing down again. Its a cycle, and its on the decline now.

Really no such thing as a keeper game. If you keep a game over a long period of time you will find your self not playing that game as much as you once did. So keeping a game for years and years no way, It will be old and not get played. Maybe you have'nt seen them on rgp for sale but on other forums there are plenty for sale.

You - and a cadre of other idiots - have been saying this for
literally a DECADE. More than a decade. Do some googling and you'll
see people laughing at those who paid $2500 for a MM in 1999.

Look, eventually the bubble WILL burst. But when? Could be 10 years
from now, or more.

How exactly does that help someone who wants an AFM TODAY? You've got
all the answers Frank. School me.

Wish i lived where Frank lives (well not right next to him of course, i
have children). I don't know where he's at that he's seeing pin prices
going down and more games for sale. It's just the opposite in most
places i've been.

That's not the sky falling, that's the price floor rising...

Posts are down.. for a reason.

The general attitude on this board has gone from professional to immature.

There are many many new folks on here that feel compelled to chime in some
comment or another on every post. The first comments generally start out with
your price is too high. Then 4 more idiots will weigh in on the pricing comment.
(as if anyone cares about their opinion on a sale that's not even theirs).

Net/net.. many veterans who have been here for a long time have just stopped
posting for sale items here to eliminate all the drama and unnecessary sales
interference.

Quite a few act like they're unemployed on a budget and that no one should make
as much profit as they can on a game. We all know how to wholesale a game if
we wanted too. But most of us are not wholesalers. We are looking for top dollar.

Every game, PF, part etc. that I've sold has never been consumated on this board and
when did they did sell, they sold for FAR more than the "peanut gallery" chimed in
the price should be.

There are quite a few of us with MANY MANY games, NOS parts and resources that
maintain this perspective and have yanked all for sale posts.

If you don't believe it, you're not one of us and wouldn't have the inside scoop.

That's just the way it is.

I quit posting games foe sale here a long time ago, BUT If I see
someone looking for a game I'm thinking of selling I contact them
& that leaves the price police out of it .

That said, I've gotten to the point to where I'd rather just do a
trade since I would be buying another game anyway .

Like Korn said, If I sold a game & then wanted another like it a year
from now the chances of finding
one for about the same as what I sold, The price will be a lot higher
so I'd rather just keep what little I have
& be Happy .
As far as finding games go, OPs learned 2 or 3 years ago those 90s B/
Ws games are still holding their prices or going up
so they are holding on to them or selling them at auctions & not to
the public .

I do know there will be a few really nice games at the next WS
auction .

If nothing was posted on the board, how did the peanut gallery know to chime
in at all?

Just asking...

Plenty of FS posts on Pinside. This usenet group is [d e a d] .

I just popped in here after a 3 month hiatus, same crap, same players.
See ya'll in another few months I guess. :p

I've been seeing a slight downtick in pinball prices and longer times to
sell, but keeping in mind that pinball is a luxury item, and folks have
real bills to pay first. Jan/Feb are always slow it seems.

I dissagree . Who cares if you are not playing a game as much as you
used to . Buy what you like , do not sell . Trade your doubles if you
find a nicer example of the titles you perfer . The collection grows
( mixed blessing as more games get crammed in your home ) over time
allowing you the choice of which title you are in the mood to play .
Only downside the maintence . Shane

Sorry, but I'm in a chimin'-in mood......

Yeah, there's a reason.......There's
another site.

Your observation is correct....That
reason most likely is the recession.

> The general attitude on this board has gone from professional to

I see no general attitude change,
only the faces have changed. Before Toad,
(Fuhrter), there was Cubeta, Wilson, and
others people loved to hate........

> many veterans who have been here for a long time have just

That's actually a benefit! Do you
really want to see FS posts here instead of
the venues for which they belong? Parts
and stuff aside, the veterans learned there's
better places to post their games for sale,
such as Mr. Pinball, and their own websites.
Pin Del is a veteran of this site, why don't
you re-read his first paragraph above.

> Quite a few act like they're unemployed on a budget and that
> no one should make as much profit as they can on a game.....
> But most of us are not wholesalers. We are looking for top

This is accurate! Doesn't the
"CARGPB" Signature, and the fact that
these people are actually proud of it mean
anything to you?
Can't place my finger on it yet,
but I feel each site is beginning to develop
a "Purpose" of it's own. Could actually
be a good thing. Rather than critisize one
or the other, let's see what the long term
holds........

The word consummated does not mean "not posted"
You don't understand how because you misread the post.
