Headed over the hill to Santa Cruz after work yesterday to play the AC/
DC. Talked to a buddy earlier in the day who said him and his posse
were going to watch Blue Oyster Cult play (free) on the beach later.
Found them on the beach right at the end of the first set and a few of
us headed off to Neptune's Kingdom to play AC/DC. We played a few
games, then they headed back to the beach to meet up with the rest of
their posse.
I stayed and started playing by myself when a father and son walked up
and started watching me play. I was having a good game and the volume
was cranked up, so they were really getting into it. It quickly became
obvious they were huge AC/DC fans. They were as enthusiastic about the
music (singing along and tapping their feet) as they were about my
game. At the end of ball 2, I glanced over to have a look at them. The
kid (maybe 9 or 10 years old) was wearing an AC/DC sweatshirt and
Angus horns. Not some cheap devil horns, they were legit Angus horns.
Dad looked like a biker dude (not that there's anything wrong with
that).
After a long third ball and extra ball, I ended up with three credits
left. Then I did the obvious. I invited them to join in. Dad quickly
declined saying they'd rather watch me play, but junior jumped right
in and says YEAH! So I ask dad if it's cool if junior plays with me
and he says sure, and by the way, his name is Angus. Wow. So I played
a game with Angus and popped another replay. Afterward I gave Angus
and his dad the two credits and headed downstairs to catch BOC's
second set.
This is the same AC/DC I was playing a few weeks ago when an actual
train went by the wall right behind the game and blasted it's horn.
These things are why I play on location. I sure wish I saw more of you
folks out there when I'm playing. Y'all missed some awesome cowbell
yesterday.
FYI: Free Money (Eddie) on the beach 8/24. No word on whether Angus
will make another appearance.
