Thanks for the link - that was a great listen! This should be Stern's
motto for the year - Shoot to Thrill. If this one tanks, heaven help
them. I hope they knock it out of the park - but I'm not holding my
breath.

Very cool.

Now, if Stern really want to do it right...put a decent sound system in
the pin. I'm talking quality speakers, an amp and a thumping subwoofer
(or 2). If you're gonna do AC/DC...MAKE IT LOUD AND PROUD.

Do that, and I might even buy one ;)

but not until the War Machine edition comes out - hope, hope. It'll be
just like the Spiderman pins. First the red edition, then the black. You
watch...

Mitch :)

it out of the park with this one, and I have
NEVER looked forward or cared for a Stern pin before.

1) Any ACDC is good (regardless of my preferences for lead).

2) That sounded like the original studio version vocals. I would be very
surprised if he sounds like that today. Pleasantly surprised.

Yes it is borg have faith; he is really slaving over this title and
doing his best to make it an awesome game.

I could slave over a car design and give it and everything I have and
it likely wouldn't be able to roll in a straight line.

How about a center ramp shot to start mulitball. Hit a couple of
targets to start lock, shoot the ball up the ramp into the chest of
Tony Stark. The ball is held in the center of his chest by an O ring
magnet as the first ball locked, think spirit ring on TOM in Ironmans
chest, led lights for the eyes, Iron Man song starts, shoot drop hole
for "shoot to thrill" multiball.

Bottomline, don't use cheesy Toys R Us figures, make shit move around,
not just bobble up and down, and throw in some magnets and decent
skill shots. OMG, almost forgot, get some high resolution printing on
the slingshot plastics, graphics on Spiderman sling plastics were
terrible. Title has potential to be a nice 3,000 game run for Stern
so please don't blow it.

Stern should have Doug Watson do the artwork for the Ironman
Translite, not sure if he is still in the business. No matter how
many times I play my T2 the translite artwork is one of the best I
have ever seen on any pinball game, so real I have to look twice
sometimes.

This should have had Steve Ritchie's name all over it.

It would be beyond awesome if the pinball plans for Avatar could be
continued.

sigh.

He was involved with the design of Jurassic Park, Guns N Roses, DE
Star Wars and MS Frankenstein. But, since he has only worked for DE /
Sega / Stern, a lot of people dismiss him just because of that.

It seems he has tag teamed a lot of his stuff though. I would say
that the problem that most people have with Indiana Jones isn't the
layout as much as it is the ruleset...

I agree. Why would Stern keep a mediocre designer and then fire all of their
real talent?

I'm not expecting much.
Wish I was but their latest offerings haven't done much for me.
I understand that people are excited about the theme but that only
goes so far.

I was excited about IJ4 and the possibilities with all the movie tie-
ins but they couldn't
even do that classic justice.

We shall see.....I guess.

They don't think that this makes economic sense given their current
business model. They might be right.

Economic sense? Oh and running 250 units of BBH makes economic
sense...WTF? I'm sure that will pay the next electric bill. OMG! But
wait, we all screamed like little girls and convinced Stern to stop
making pins based on movie themes...like Avatar, be more original,
more creative just like like the B/W originals. Well, you need talent
like Lyman, Gomez and Ritchie to make that happen. I'm pretty sure
Stern pissed those guys off, so the old saying goes payback is a
bitch.

Do you really believe a non-licensed pin will sell well?
I'm sure on location players or casual home buyers couldn't care less.
If you're walking by and see something you never heard from before and
next to it is something you do recognize it's clear what you'll play
first.

Licenses are a free commercial and if it is a good license it only
helps the title getting sold!
SM is a great game but if you'd call it Kid Spider and do everything
original I'm sure it would have sold less than half the units SM got
produced!

Licenses are just necessary in todays market, no license equals to
very low sales.

And yes you have a point that making 250pins is small but can you
imagine what an original pin would do? 50units?

As many would love to see an original it isn't going to happen and
it's really clear why not!
A great game hand in hand with a good license increases sales a lot in
my view so I can't blame Stern! I only hope the licenses after BBH are
better ones like Iron Man for example.

And, WGAS about Iron Man?

And AC/DC was just loud, raucous, gee-isn't-it-fun-to-be-obnoxious
cookie cutter noise from day one.

(So a few of their songs rock, so hard. Ho hum.)

Agree on Iron Man . If ever an overhyped average at best movie did NOT
need a sequel.

I'm crossing everything I have and hoping there isn't an image of
Mickey Rourke ANYWHERE on that pin. I respect the dude as an actor,
but I don't want to be looking at him all the time. Of course I felt
the same way about the slings on Spider-man....

Really?? Why is it clear? Why are you so sure?

I'm a serious route player and I'm 100% positive I'd play the one I've
never heard/seen before! Why? Because I have never heard or seen it
before!!

Easily one of the most short sighted comments I've seen here in a
while. Nothing personal, but I simply disagree.

Agreed about it being an average movie at best but it made a ton of
money, so it did need a sequel.

Well but you're a serious route player Ron, there lies the difference
don't you think?
You're a hardcore pinball guy but I'm thinking a non pinhead or casual
player is more attracted to licensed themes.

It's all an opinion of course and maybe also the way you're looking at
it.

Evert - you are correct! I think a non-pinhead would drop coin on a
familiar theme vs. non-familiar.

So maybe we don't disagree so much but as I read your comment I
thought "No effing way I'm bypassing a new/unfamiliar title!"

I sure hope the license includes some AC/DC songs, but somehow I doubt
it... Ironman with AC/DC is a great theme. Without AC/DC it is an
average theme at best.

Brian Johnson might be the worst concert singer of all time, but AC/DC
still rocks. I watch their concert DVD's with remote in hand and fast
forward whenever he is singing - just to see Angus play guitar.
