When I use the 'search box' in these group forums, I am almost ALWAYS looking for the most recent post about the subject I am searching for. I have no idea on the search/display criteria for these searches but it certainly isn't by date!
Is there a way to search and ask for the results to be presented by the most recent posting first?
Example, I'm looking for a BTTF game to purchase. I but BTTF in the search box and the first post I get is from 2010, then before then and the 2012 and somewhere mixed in is the post from this YEAR! Geeze... this is goofy.
I gotta be missing something. Advice?

I suspect in a few days today's posts will begin showing up in the search results?
Many times I know I saw something in RGP in the past day or two, but have not been able to find it using the search/sort by date feature.

The search in google groups does not work properly. I think groups is
very low on the priority list at google.

Would RGP archive catch the posts that GG misses?

or RGPArchive, they both such shit in a big way.
Get yourself a free USENET news group server (eternal-september.org for
example) and then a free mail/news reader like SeaMonkey (any Mozilla
type open source project with a news reader is wonderfully powerful and
search works fine) and go from there...
Steps to Freedom from shit front ends to USENET news groups...
1. Stop thinking Google Groups gives a shit
2. Stop believing RGPArchive is good, it is not.
3. Try Pinside for a while if USENET news is too harsh/free for you
4. Sign up on Eternal-September.org, its FREE for text only groups.
5. Download SeaMonkey as your news reader and consider it for POP/SMTP
6. Configure your login for SeaMonkey with info you got from Eternal...
7. Download the available group names, select r.g.p. as one to read.
8. Download all available headers (may take a while)...
9. Use filters to kill file people, topics, whatever...
10. Finally use USENET news groups the way it was meant to be, with
power, speed and no filtering or content limits, delays or otherwise.
Bottom line kids, learn to use the net the way it was designed. No
limits, free speech, exchanging ideas, and most of all having the power
to whatever you like, whenever you like, and with whom you like.
Exercise and enjoy your freedoms, or lose them.

GG kind of gave up on decent search indexing sometime in 2012. Try
RGP Archive for searching the RGP archives. You're just limited how
many searches you can do within a specified time frame (a minute or 2
or 3).
