Just happened to stumble across this hardware at a Harbor Freight
store;
that seemed perfect for modifying the handle on the 500 lb Hydraulic
lift cart
that they sometimes have for sale at $90-140.
Allows the handle to stick out away from the pinball cabinet body (a
little)
so the cart can more easily slide further underneath the pin, for
better balance.
You can also install the hardware to allow the handle to fold down
completely.
It is reversible, so it allows for installing the handle back to
original intended design.

Not shown in the photos that I took (see above attached link)
But I later replaced the 1" conduit that i used to give the handle
extra girth;
with a piece of vinyl hose (1-1/4" OD x 1.0" ID), that I slipped over
the handle
to allow the allen screws on the swivel to grip into.

The one end (cap) of the swivel nicely fits over the handle posts on
the cart
(& then tighten in place with the allen screw);
then you can align the other end of the swivel so the handle can
either stand up at a slight angle
or fold down horizontal.
Hardware is called a single swivel Tee (item#:95725) for 1-1/4" OD
pipe; cost is about $2-4ea
I forget what aisle I found this at my Harbor Freight store, but also
available at

Those carts are great. I'm not too keen on the lowering mech being
like 1/4" off the ground. Make for smooth floors and no threshholds
(that's where skates still come in handy).

Not to diss your handle mod, but the thing really doesn't need a
handle. The foot pedal makes enough of a handle for manuevering it
under a pin. My mod was not installing it and using a rubber band to
keep the lowering mech from floppin' around.

I do like the rubber mat mod.

Nice. I have the same lift but I used a 3/4" conduit bender and bent the
handle legs back about 20 degrees at about 10" up from the bottom. Fits
under a lot better now and still stays nice and rigid. If those swivels
you found came in 3/4" that would be ideal but your solution seems to
work great! Thanks for sharing, Tom :)

I did not have a conduit pipe bender and was too cheap to spend the
$25 to buy one,
plus I was worried that if i made a mistake in the bending process,
might permanently ruin the handle.

I picked up this cart over the weekend from HF for under $100 with
tax...my question to the group is whether or not I should make some
type of extra wood support system for the top like others have
done...or is it safe to just lift the bottom of the pin straight onto
the cart? (obviously I'll have to get the center of balance right)
but should I be worried about the bottom of the pin resting directly
on the pin cart? should I make some makeshift wooden top to
distribute the weight more evenly or not in your opinion....

thanks...

I'd love to just be able to bend the handle like Cliffy suggested
above...if I only had an electrician friend....

If you inspect the bottom of the cabinet first
before rolling the lift underneath and jacking up the table, you
should be OK,
but some pinball cabinets are in poor shape,
and the actual bottom of the CAB, might not like being lifted,
unless there is some more support over a greater area.
