TAF, Getting a GREED Letter on each New Ball...Normal or Not?

I decided to make a new thread on this since the title from my other
thread was misleading and incorrect.

The issue I am really confused about is whether it is normal to get a
GREED letter after each NEW ball is shot onto the playfield (whether
it goes into the swamp, to the pop bumbers or to the skill shot).

The bookcase still lights letters when you hit it but I also get
letters for each new ball.

Some people say that it is normal and this is how it works on their
TAF, others say it absolutely does not work this way on theirs and
only the bookcase allows letters (or the tilt bug getting letters),
some say that this is a setting which can be changed and others that
it can't, and some say this only happens after multiball.

So if a TAF gives GREED letters for each new ball is there something
wrong with the machine or is this the way it should run? (if there are
specific settings which manipulates this could you name the exact
ones?)

Thanks Again!

Definitely not normal. Not sure if there is an easy setting to allow
this but I'll check..

Sounds normal and is almost certainly the result of a feature
adjustment for multiball difficulty. I think factory setting is a
free Greed letter for each ball (not extra balls or plunges after
locks). In tournaments, this is usually disabled. Not sure what the
exact feature adjustment is, but Mr. Manuel should be able to help you
out there.

Mine is set to standard factory settings, I havent changed any of the
feature adjustments (only thing I changed was to free play and volume
override and that's it!)

I've looked through the manual but see no references to new ball greed
letters.

tomdotcom found this in the rulesheet: "On your first multiball, the
first switch you trigger each ball spots a letter. You can also gain a
"cheat" GREED letter by tilting. When G-R-E-E-D is spelled, the
bookcase opens and the vault is revealed."

But I understood from that, that you have to get a multiball first
before the switches give you letters....I'm getting letters with each
new ball at the start of a new game...

No it means before you get your FIRST multiball you get a free letter
on each new ball. Once you get past the first multiball it doesnt
happen anymore. TRUST me. Thats the way it works..PERIOD..

It is a feature that can be shut off in the settings as well. Just go
to your settings and look there..end of story..I own TAF and have
played it thousands of times..trust me i KNOW

Yep, by "first multiball" they mean just that - you get the freebies
for your first MB. It's like that so beginners have a better chance
of starting multiball. Once you get through the first multiball, no
more freebies since you obviously know how to play the game :)

I don't see this adjustment listed in the manual - perhaps it was
added later?

Thanks guys I appreciate the feedback and explanation!

(Nothing like being paranopid over a game you just fixed up!)

Yes, tested and confirmed after the first multi-ball you stop getting
GREED letters on a new ball.

Man that was making me nuts thinking it was a problem and then
not...but just glad its working as it should!

Thanks Again!
