I agree that a lot of DE games do feel cheap and plasticy. I thought so
to. Main reason, is the pop bumpers are all one piece on a plastic
housing. Not sandwiched between the playfield. This makes the pops
give a cheap sound, instead of a nice thud you feel in gottlieb and b/w
titles. I'm just saying AFM is a cheaply designed game. It's the
economy game of bally williams. Name one gave of theirs that has less
on it. it's got a target bank that goes up and down and a cheap plastic
toy that shakes a little. Bunch of rubber toy monsters and cheap
plastic ships...that's it. Definitely the cheapest game for them to
make. It's not a bad game, fun for what it is. But for people to rag
on sterns, for having nothing on them, but at the same time supporting
AFM, is just contradictory. That's all i'm saying.
Btw, LAH is much more fun than AFM. Just saying. LAH actually has a
lot going for it. Tho it is kinda of a TAF/JP rip off as well. JP
doesn't bring in a lot of coin. Until recently, they were 900-1100
games all day. Just recently have they reached the 1800-2000 range.
GNR is the only DE game that broke the 3k barrier. And gottlieb hasn't
yet. Gottlieb is more understandable, because the games play and feel
totally different than everyone else. DE's play very similar to B/W so
the adjustment isn't as great. Gottlieb take some getting used to. Way
more flipper travel, much more control than b/w, DE, sega, sterns.
