Anybody know the path to take to repeatedly get to the frog? I did it
the first time a few weeks ago, it made me laugh but I was a bit
intoxicated and don't have a clue what path sequence I took.

drunk, right now? :)

Nobody? OK I know I'm making this up...There was a dancing frog with
the top hat and walking stick. I was maybe a bit tipsy but not out of
my mind

I meant I know I'm NOT making this up. The cart was whipping through
and then stopped at a closed chest - The chest opened and a frog came
out...

Wow, I've been through the mines probably 100 times, and never
encountred a chest with a dancing frog.

It sounds like Michigan J. Frog from the old Bugs Bunny cartoons, LOL.

What were you drinking?

Sounds like you were drinking Absinthe! But instead of the green
fairy you saw a dancing frog ;-)

Ok seriously Brad. Maybe you could ask the anonymous software
programmer what it takes to trigger said frog. Considering the game
is 18 years old and people are just hearing about this Easter egg
now. I think they had it buried kind of deep!

Hey guys, just a follow up, I was truly surpised that I happened

the tricks would be out there to search and try. Well, I'm glad I
asked the group because it inspired someone to pick up an old task to
finish...and he did. The path is confirmed and I repeated it this
morning. A Dancing Frog!

I will let the person who found it chime in, reveal the path and take
the credit...

Hey Brad,

Any chance of you being able to record a video clip of the dancing
frog on the DMD screen and post it? Even a still photo would be cool.

Is there any unique audio that acompanies the frog? I keep imagining
Michigan J. Frog singing "Michigan Rag" or "Hello my Baby" from the
old Warner Bros cartoons.

How do you transition back the the mine cart mode after the frog
appears, or does it just end and award you points?

Thanks,

Jeff R.

I was wrong about the chest, After running it again this morning; its
the Ark. The mine path ends and you get 20 million. I'm off to work
so I'll get a Pic to post tonight.

pinball. Would the source please come forward and share with us this
amazingly hidden 18 year old secret?

Wow - that has got to be one of the best hidden/forgotten secrets in
pinball. 1993 to 2011 and only 1 or 2 people know of its existence
and managed to keep it quiet. This is really amazing because we're
not talking about some obscure game here. WMS IJ is continuously on
the top 10 list no matter whose survey you look at.

I am also sitting and waiting patiently (patience is waning though)
for the knowledge to be shared. :)

Kick ass find Brad and thank you very much for sharing!

By the way, the person that did all the code work gave me permission
to tell the group, he is choosing to remain anonomous. I have thanked
him several times! It's great to be able to share with the group and
find new details of old games.

Hey Brad -

Something occurred to me while I was testing this out myself...

How did you happen to stumble across this anyway? Do you regularly
start your games with both flipper buttons depressed?!???

Jaz

NoTellin

As it turns out Yes. It's funny to me that I found the frog;
ironically I found it because I suck at pinball. I have an ST:TNG and
a IJ, I play constantly but I'm not really good at either. That being
said, if I get to the 3rd ball and it's not going well, I'll reset the
game by pressing both flippers and the start button at the same
time...This starts the game over without all the end of game credits
and such. (I assumed this was common knowledge too, I found it one
night but figured I was the rookie, everyone else must know about the
reset) So, I reset the game because I wasn't doing well and then I
crashed through a gate I shouldn't have. Even a blind squirrel gets a
nut sometimes right.

Well that explains it. I love pinball but also suck. I never knew
about the flipper/flipper/start to abort a game and start a new one.
Now you've taught me TWO things!

This new Michael J Frog discovery has got me considering changing what
I'm bringing to MGC. Probably not... but considering it.

So I have to ask, is it possible to get the frog during normal game
play?
(ie. without holding both flippers and pressing start)

It's wild that I have played that game quite a few times and never saw
this.

100% confirmed. Does NOT work if you do not hold in both flippers
when starting. Not surprised this was so hard to find especially
since you are trying to avoid crashing through a barrier. Hmmm, I
wonder if there are other things hidden behind other barriers. Also,
I don't see how they get the tie in with a Warner Brothers frog in the
IJ game. Game is Williams, IJ is Lucas, and the production company is
Fox if I remember correctly, so why a WB frog besides that fact he is
awesomely cool?

There is no tie in. Somebody was fooling around, and snuck it in there.

Anyone else notice this ... it says 20,000,000 Frog Bonus. But then
the person's score is only 8M. 18 years to find the frog, and it
doesn't count the points for you??? :)

I'm sure it adds it during your bonus after the ball is over like it
does with the other modes.

Jazman

Modes bonuses are counted as bonus points and scored at the end of the
ball (ie: if you tilt you don't get it).

I just confirmed that it also works on the Pinball FX version (Epic Games).
