I have a mars god of war , it plays fine and sounds fine but at game
over the background sound wont shut off , it passes all sound tests ,
i have done the ground mods , this is killing me . i have spent almost
20 hours over the last 6 weeks trying things. new interconnect , swap
driver boards , repin connector , did a ton of work on the sound
board , but like i said it passes all tests , im hoping someone here
has experienced this before .

I don't know if I have the definitive answer, but trying turning dip
switch 25 of the CPU on, and see if anything changes. Although the
MGOW manual states 25 is not used, there is other info, provided by
Gottleib, which states differently.

"What ....other info"? Seriously Jim where'd you pick that up? We could ask
Clay to add it to the sound board page

The back page of the June 1981 On-Target newsletter alludes to this.
It actually states that if sw. 25 is off, and the game is slam tilted,
the BG sound will keep playing. I figured it was worth a shot
mentioning this, before probing the s/s board all over the place.

Oh, and Sys80 machines after MGOW, which use a s/s board, have sw. 25
marked with "MUST REMAIN ON". This does not apply to Sys80As though,
because sw. 25 controlled a completely different option by then.

Magic. I haven't run into that before. I've emailed Clay to see if it can be
added to his site

Cheers

I'm reposting this, just in case my post from Google earlier today
didn't show up. The BH, HH, and Eclipse manuals notate that sw. 26 must
be on. Volcano lists 26 as the switch which controls the credit button
tune, but the credit button tune control was switched to sw. 27 in the
other 3 manuals I mentioned above.

Does anyone know why sw. 26 has to remain on? I couldn't find any
documentation on this.

I'm curious to know what CPU sw. 26 does in games after Volcano. For
Volcano, it lists sw. 26 as "REPLAY BUTTON TUNE". However, for BH,
HH, and Eclipse, the control of the replay button tune moves to sw.
27, and sw. 26 is marked "MUST REMAIN ON". Does anyone have an answer
for sw. 26 on the three games I mentioned?
