can be used for the Nucore or any PC build. Let me know what you guys
think...I thought these prices were extremely fair and blew away
anything that NewEgg had to offer.
Just an FYI I'm not making a nickel on these (as you can probably tell
by the pricing)..I'm offering these to the group as kind of a thank
you for well..keeping my machine up and running.
Board: Intel BOXDG41TY Mainboard with parallel port (New Retail Box)
I seen there was a post a while ago someone using this board with no
problems
CPU: Q9400 QUAD core 2.66GHz..yes a QUAD core (New retail box)
Memory 2x2GB (4GB total) DDR2 800 (new)
Hard Drive: Western Digital 500GB 16MB Cache hard drive (new). I'm
trying to get the severe duty RAID edition drives but we'll see. I
think that may be pushing it a bit
As far as warranty it will all be done by the manufacture. The mother
board and CPU have a 3 year warranty and Intel is real easy to work
with. In fact they will advance replace overnight parts and no
charge. I've done this a few times.
The hard drive is through Wester Digital and a 2 year warranty
The memory is lifetime...I can take care of the warranty on these.
I'll warranty anything DOA and swap the kit should there be a problem.
I'll bench test every kit and install the CPU and memory and at least
fire it up on the bench before shipping.
Now for the pricing...
It looks like I can get these for about $225 + shipping. New egg
sells the CPU for $190 and the board for $70 plus shipping...add about
another $150ish or so for the hard drive and memory..it's quite a
deal.
All you'll need is a power supply or chassis\power supply to finished
the PC..maybe a CD-ROM drive also
Now the bad...turnaround time after payment will be about 2 weeks from
payment to at your door...mostly because I only work in the shop on
Monday's. I *should* be able to get them shipped in a week but I'm
adding a little buffer.
I'll should have 2 kits available Monday (maybe 3). Once these are
gone I'll wait till they are shipped and feedback from the buyers
before I pick anymore up. This pricing should be good for at at least
a month according to the vendor.
Credit card through my business account at paypal is OK. I won't make
anyone do the 'gift thing'

If you are thinking durability, then yes, possibly there is some
benefit. I would buy that setup for your price if I needed one. Very
good deal.

higher Mean Time Before Failure rate as the spindle motors are a bit
beefer and a much higher temperature threshold. I don't think there
are any difference in the read\write heads though.

I'm not sure how you're getting a deal like this. This price doesn't
seem possible. If the people who bought these would post I would
appreciate it. I'm all for good, cheap hardware if it's legit.

financial company…they ordered all the parts as securing 10,000 same
boards, CPU, hard drives ETC is quite a challenge. Well..we all know
what happened to the financial world…they got through about 3000
machines before the company went under. Now the vender has a boat
load of parts that they purchased at a very good bulk rate. They
don’t sell to the general public or ‘end users’ per say…thus the
surplus and the pricing. I don’t know the details but the parts were
partially paid for up front.
I think made a total of $10 on the 2 kits I sold as shipping was
slightly cheaper than quoted because I didn’t use a flat rate box..but
standard International priority.
There’s one kit left then if there enough interest I’ll grab a few
more next time I’m over there

A note for anyone trying to use this with Nucore. There is a linux
related problem with the built in network adapter. If you install
Linux then get no internet access here's what you need to do:
1) power down the system
2) move the bios jumper from pins 2 and 3 to pins 1 and 2. leave it
this way for a second or two.
3) move the jumper back.
4) boot the machine
This is a weird fix but it worked for me. Again, this is a linux
kernel issue and not a nucore issue ;-)

because memory pricing went through the roof this week. The supplier
however is including Crucial memory and the RAID edition hard
drives..at least for these 2

What this replaces is some of the original computer equipment in P2K.
Here's a brief checklist of items you need to complete do without the
original computer. It's an all or nothing deal. Can't do a partial
replacement.

Just an fyi. This hardware does work with nucore with some tweaking.
It is overkill though. I bought the kit and updated the code to handle
quad cores and there was no improvement in performance. It is still a
good deal for what you get but you can buy the suggested components
for a little less. We spend about 240 at newegg and that comes with
the power supply. I'm not trying to steer anyone away from this but
just want to let people know the facts. For linux or windows this is a
great deal and you will probably use the quad cores.
