I love the fact that Keith J. went to the trouble to program in the
variable-use Q24 for such a thing...thank you, Keith!
Since I have no photos of this yet, and probably won't until after Xmas,
here's how it went:
1) reviewed schematics, located Q24 and correct wire (purple-gray, position
10 of J7)...tapped it
2) found fused 20V source at the Homer head solenoid...tapped it
3) ran tapped leads up left side of backbox, terminated in 2-position
mate-n-lock connector
4) test-mounted knocker solenoid bracket up in the left side of the head so
it would strike the top
5) mounted strike plate (piece of plated steel I had lying around) to top of
head
6) mounted knocker assembly, replaced connector with one to match my mate-n-
lock from step 3, plugged it in
7) ran solenoid test, and it worked!
Now I just have to play a good enough game to make it work for real. The
kids will be surprised.
