Scott Yates, aka "Doo-Rag" passed away this evening.
Treasurecove
passed away this evening in the ICU of UK Hospital (Lexington, Ky) from
complications of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. This all happened very quickly with
Scott as he started getting ill back in the spring. Scott was 46 years old,
and is survived by his brother "Griss" and son Bradley.
Scott was one of those guys you never forgot once you met him, ...
definately excentric to say the least. He traveled from state to state
buying and selling pins and video games at auctions. When he would find a
nice condition pin, he would always call us and see if we wanted it, and if
so, he would bring it back to Louisville for us. Some people didn't like
Scott, but I'll tell you one thing, .. he always was a man of his word, and
if he gave it, .. you could take it to the bank. Our deepest sympathies go
out to Griss and Bradley.

I've had the oppurtunity to get to know Scott, Griz, and Bradley over
the last year. Their shop is about 5 minutes from my house. I stop by
on my way home from work whenever I can, just to talk. I have become
friends with the three of them and Scott was without a doubt the center
of the family. Griz and Bradley always looked to Scott for his
leadership. He has worked hard his whole life and has been taken too
early. Anyone who knew Scott personally knows what a great guy he was.
He was a man of his word and worked his fingers to the bone to provide
for his family. Please keep the Yates family in your prayers through
these rough times.

Folks, that's how he made his living. How about I show up in your

a lot of folks that really went over the line as far as this guy was
concerned, and I hope he didn't take it too personally.

well, on his auctions, he can't spell Illinois (where he lives no
less), so I guess they didn't teach spelling where he went (nor
geography)!!!

Funny how people can be discriminated against for such silly things.
I never knew him or noticed him at any auctions, but from what Allen
and some others say he was a hard worker and honest.
How about it guys? Who wants to step up? I'll be happy to contribute
if someone knows how to channel it to the proper family members.

his own game back. That's why they charge Ops a 5 dollar fee for every game
bought, instead of the 10 percent commission. If they charged 10 percent to
all the ops, they couldn't buy back 3 or 4 thousand dollar games because
they'd have 3 or 4 hundred dollars worth of commission to pay. Doo-Rag
bought his own games back, yes, but he also paid the 5 dollar fee designed
to allow ops to do that in the first place. Everybody talks about him shill
bidding, everyone selling at these auctions either shill bids or is selling
something that's such a steaming pile that they don't care what they get out
of it. I'm not saying "Oh everybody's cheating" i'm saying "Everybody's
doing what the rules allow them to do".
