Damn, gonna have to make an order this weekend!
Sam
Blue Wides, they look awesome...
And more importantly will they work in system 7's?
How does that apply if you order a kit?
LET ME CLARIFY ON ORDERING...PUT RGP IN THE SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
SECTION
ALSO, you do not need to double your own order, we will double it for
you.
If we order more than $25 (not hard to do), can we specify what we want
doubled or you choose randomly?
Sam
Note that it doesn't say they are going to take an order for $100 and
give you $100 free in LEDs. It's up to $25 in free LEDs.
good question on the kits.
Michael
They will work in System 11's, you need to remove the 7 watt resistor
off ground...
Never tried them in a System 7. If it is set up the same as the
System 11 flasher circuit
then you would have the same issues.
HUH?!??!
So we will get duplicates of whatever is ordered? It seems to me this
would read easier to simply say 50% off orders up to the first $50
(max $25 discount).
We'll give you $25.00 off the kit....
yes
Yes what? I choose or you choose? The other poster had a better idea.
50% off up to $25.
Do you need a job in marketing??? You're good!!!! But people like the
sound of FREE over 50% off!
Sounds great - Sold!
Hi - I want to outfit my TAF. If i buy the GI kit (25.00) - does my
next purchase up to 25 come free (like the TAF backbox kit is 22.99 -
is that cost waived?)
Please let me know... Thanks!
Place your order for the GI kit and in the instructions put to add the
backbox kit for free.
Someone explain why this would work? What 7 watt resistor? I thought
System 11's over drove the flasher circuit and one would have to put a
resistor in line to lower the voltage so it doesn't blow the LED's.
Sam
quick question - which look best in pop bumpers (early solid state
types)?
170-degree warm white or warm white 5-led (555 base)?
thanks,

crud just made a $45 order this week : ( great deal.
Hey Steve,
I am not sure what they are officially called, but I call them the 4
point ones... ;-) I have them in my early SS Williams pins pop
bumpers...and they look great, they spread the light out so it isn't
concentrated in one spot...I had them in my Star Light at
Expo...Melissa will chime in and give you the offical name I am
sure!! ;-)

What are the major differences between wide angle and narrow and 90
degree angle? What would you use for General Illumination?
90 degree
We like the cool white frosted's or the 90 degree regular cool whites
System 11's use big ceramic resistors not to cut voltage so much but to
keep the filament warm for quicker flashes. Basically they slow the
cutoff when the flasher is turned off. Watch a flasher and you'll see it
come on with a bang but fade away rather than just chop off.

So why would cutting the 7 watt (R1) off make LED's work? I just don't
get that. The circuit would be broken and nothing would work. What am
I missing?
Sam
Oh well, never mind.

Martin.

If you like I coulkd buy them for you, Martin, as I ship to the UK all
the time. Let me know!
Did they say to snip the resistor out of circuit? I would think you
would have to jump it or you would have an open circuit.
We ship to the UK....
How does slowing the cut-off keep the filaments warm.
I know that early system 11's had an extra 330 ohm resistor that was
tied direclty to ground that always kept at least some current in the
bulb (but not enough to light it). but they got rid of that in later
games because they were falling off (cold solder joints)
Schematic here
http://www.pinrepair.com/sys11/s11flsh0.gif
The later games only had the 7 ohm resistor and I thought that was to
keep the 25V solenoid circuit from blowing up a 12 volt bulb.
How did they change this for WPC? As far as I know it's still the
same voltages and drive transistors but they no longer have the
resistors.
So asking it again, cutting out that resistor breaks the circuit.
Did she mean jumper over the resistor (short it)
And if so does that mean the #89's are really set for 25 volts??
I don't mean to be a pain. I orderd some of the #89's and want to
know how to install them correctly.
Kris
Kris,
Send me an email at l...@cointaker.com....

Quoting them:
"They will work in System 11's, you need to remove the 7 watt resistor
off ground..."
I read that as snip R1? off and it will work.
Sam
I bought all 44/47 style at PPE (oops!) and I need to get some 555
style to mess around with!
Brian
Actually, please post it cuz all of us that has Sys 11 games want to
know so we can use LED's as flashers.
Sam
I am accepting thanks for coming up with the idea for the 50% off
deal!! (See Miss LED's previous post regarding her compition!).
Miss LED,
What type of LEDs should I order for my EBD?
Many Thanks,
redfl...@aol.com
But the UK is not in your drop down list of countries for "Billing
Information" at the checkout stage, so how can an order be completed?
I wanted to know the shipping costs before placing an order, but
couldn't find that information, so created an order only to find I
couldn't get past that stage.
Cheers,
Martin.

I want a kit for funhouse and a kit for TSPP for the inserts on the
pf. How do I find those or which leds do i need for each game.
found it sorry
What the resistor does is provide a small amount of power continuously
to the filament to keet it slightly warm. This is called a "Keep-Alive"
circuit and greatly prolongs the life of incandescent bulbs that are
used in momentary on (flash) circuits.
Read the "Inrush Current" section for details:
http://www.wamcoinc.com/Oshino/Oshino_lamps-Overview.htm
LEDs do not benefit from this, and in fact might glow bright enough to
be irritating and so one disables the keep-alive for them.

to the LED thing.
Ok, but the flasher circuit is getting 25V. Are your 89's rated for 25V?
Sam
Just placed my order. Thanks!!!
It is a custom fitted insert board with led strips on it, consists of
a power supply and remote control.
Pics will be on website shortly.
No, 13 V....

I saw this at expo and really liked it and it's versatility (fade,
flash, all white, off, ect...). Order placed...now I'll think about
the total pimp conversion with the under lighting.
> Did they say to snip the resistor out of circuit? I would think you

I think that's the idea. :)
This is just an early morning thought, but I would guess that since LEDs
don't take much to light up, the warming filament just winds up lighting
the LED permanently.
Only an issue for original system 11 machines; they ditched the warming
filament somewhere through system 11. I think it was somewhere in 11A, but
not 100% sure on that. If you have under-playfield resistors on your
flashers, then you're affected.

Have a home video that's trapped on your camera? Want to share it on the
web or on DVD?
I just put an LED flasher 89 in Elvira and the PM and it
worked fine. Like korn said this era of sys11b did not
use the warming resistor.
The stock flasher only sees 1/2 that (it's pulsed)
Just like WMS lamp matrices are 18volts to 6 volt bulbs.

Now that's good news for a Cyclone (sys 11b) owner. I have LEDs in
all of the inserts but skipped the flashers because I heard the
sys11's had issues with the LED Flasher bulbs.
Not sure which type to order for the GI though.
Thoughts?

Placed an Order for a Xenon im working on for myself

Taylor,
What pinball do you have? Chances are that the people at http://www.cointaker.com
already had a kit or are working on one for your game. You should give
them a call or shoot them an email. I have had really great
experiences with them and I don’t mind telling everyone they helped me
decide and get the best LEDS for my pins.
I use Round 90 for smaller inserts and Wide Angle 170 for larger
inserts. For very large inserts try the Specialty & HIGH Power LEDS.
For color just match the insert color. On clear inserts I experiment
with different colors that fit the game theme.
If you just want to try some LEDS order the Round 90, the lighting
closely matches a regular bulb. The 44 WARM WHITE looks like a regular
bulb were the COOL WHITE bulb adds a bit of punch.
T
was thinking about my Wh20. They don't have a kit for it.
White Water would be a very cool pinball to do LEDs with. The top box
I would try the cool white bulbs as it would look like water. The GI
use the round 90 cool white. If my memory serves me right it uses red
bulbs around a hole behind the pop bumpers. Use the 44/47 RED FROSTED
as they will look like the bulbs with the color condoms. Also use the
frosted for the sign bulbs yellow and red (I think). The inserts are
smaller so the round 90 will work, match the insert colors to the
LEDS. The flashers under that caps use the 906 RED. For the pop
bumpers uses the 44 White 4leds + 1High Power or the 555 WHITE 4leds +
1High Power to shine through the mountains plastics that are mounted
on top. Hope this helps.
T
Sorry the pop bumpers use 555 so the "555 WHITE 4leds + 1High Power"
or for more light the "555 WHITE 5 High Power "
T
Will definately have to place an order this weekend. I bought the
sample kit to test the led's from cointaker.com at the recent 2009
White Rose Gameroom show in York. Don't remember who I dealt with but
they were really friendly, it didn't seem like I was bothering them
with questions or stealing thier time.
I matched the various colors in the backbox for my ST25th - very
impressed, not a single failure - the LED's really make the backbox
stands out.
My two cents,
Mike

because earlier in the post Melissa said for us not to double them,
they would do it??? ;-)

Mine was the same way. Contacted cointaker and Mellissa said the
would not update the orders but would automatically double them or add
the $25 free I assume.
Placed an order today as well. Ordered 1/2 of the LEDs I need since
they said they will double the order.
Sorry guys...we got slammed.....still filling orders...I do not have
time to go back in and make changes to the orders....we are just
automatically doubling the bulbs up to the $25.00...I have written on
each printed order what was included... Sorry for the confustion....
Can't wait for this to be over.....Not sure what I was
thinking....I'll be filling orders in my sleep tonite...If I get any!
I have put a bunch in my Centaur and it looks good. I also just
placed another order.
Thanks cointaker for doing this and giving us a great deal!

Yeah, I meant to order earlier and forgot about it until I just opened
