FYI: Playfields here for direct ink, they are going to be screen printed now to get finished Winter 2010

the years. Sorcerer, Space Shuttle, Star Gazer, High Speed, & Eight
Ball Deluxe. I will be doing these all myself, to reduce my financial
drain on these projects. A one man silk screen press is going to be
built on my own table. I have ordered in 2 frames with screens to
print to playfields. There are a pair of clamp hinges, & a roller lift
for frame. The supplier is the same for CPR, & will guide me in the
process of inks.
I will move along & get what I have started finished for playfields. I
have asked the guys who have provided the art to help me finally
finish this process with color layers for Sorcerer & Space Shuttle. So
things will finally get done the original way, & maybe those with
playfields will be happy with the results.
People still continue to ask if they can send in playfields. I am not
taking in anything else until everything is done. For those with
playfields here, thanks again for your patience! I am a man of my word
& will see these finished to the best of my abilities.
I will post pictures of my one man silk screen press when its ready
for action early December.

The people who do it for Stern have been doing it for YEARS.
You're gonna have worse alignment problems than you did with direct
ink.
Do you have a convection over to bake them after EACH COLOR?
I'm a very positive person in life, but for pete's sake man, pack it
up.
Someday you WILL hit on something you can do and complete, and
hopefully benefit the pinball community with, but playfields ain't it!

I disagree.
First you don't need an oven to bake the colors.
Second i know people that do their own screening.
Admittedly they aren't doing 10 colors and their
not doing something as large as a playfield. But
it can be done without fancy equipment.
How do i know this? because i hired a local
screen printer to do some backglasses for me.
I saw how they do it. burning the screens was
a little high tech, but the actually screen printing
was pretty low tech. No special machines used.
Just a guy, a screen, a wood gig, and lots of
ink and an ink spreader.

Screening to a blank canvas/backglass, and screening to a playfield
with 50+ holes that HAVE to line up (each color) are two different
worlds.
And, I think, is a bit beyond JG's capabilities.

Clay is correct on the process, & more than likely even an idiot could
do this if you get the alignment right. It isn't rocket science &
thankfully those with the talent to do the art are the real hero's in
all pinball projects that people see lately. So hopefully I get these
looking as good as done on a real press. At the very least they will
get the same ink as used on other new playfields done by CPR. Like I
have said the experts say the results should be the same as with an
expensive press, if everything is aligned correctly!
I have stated that the Sorcerer playfields here are all over the place
for light lense arrangement. No 2 look the same, & hopefully Space
Shuttle's were done to a higher standard. Edward is already onboard
for the change to see these finally done, & has a cool video posted
about it for CPR's new playfield run. Sorcerer's are already done in
color layers. High Speed is being redone to further improve the art
file. Eight Ball Deluxe is only a few playfields & Star Gazer is
reaching the final stages next year.
There is no need for a dryer since my project runs are small, 2 - 10
playfields. Is this a viable restoration process, probably not for the
labour involved! But for me its the final solution to having a stalled
projects.

Well Wayne is in it as a business & has lots of money. I have a 6 day
a week job. Everything is being ordered that is needed to finally get
these projects done.

Of course Wayne wouldn't admit John publically started all this
digital print business not some "New Technology" banner hes been
waving about the place making out all his own research went into it.
Sorry it didn't and I wish John every success in screen printing as I
did his digital. Personally I feel digital is the way to go and I'm
sure John will show you more proof of his work with digital later on
as hes done in the past.

As opposed to being some guy that just walked in from the alley, he/
she is probably a person with a some experience screening.
I would also look at how you plan to screen 8-10 colors with two
screens.
Who is going to burn your screens, and what is the turn around time.
How you plan to figure out your registration.
What you will take test shots on.
If you plan to take test shots on scrap paper how those shots will
actually relate to the registration of the actual fields.
I'm not trying to be negative. but you have not thought about this
fully and if you intend to be successful you need to have a coherent
plan.

Sorcerer's are the first ones to get done, & then Space Shuttle's. I
am probably the least technical savy guy to do silk screening.
Fortunately for me the experts will guide me through the ink process,
that already sell the stuff to CPR. Also I know a few guys who have
done this in the past. I will burn my own screens & reuse them. I have
an idea on alignment, & will see what happens. I already have a mini
booth set up in the basement. If I get this done & finish these
projects, any idiot can do it. I have many plans to restore playfields
if things work out. For now I will be happy to finish all the
playfields here!

Update: Color Span tested the new Sorcerer maroon file this afternoon.
There is one playfield that is prepared for printing & will get done
Friday. I believe its Korn's replacement. There are 2 Space Shuttle's
prepared, one is Edwards. The 2 Space Shuttle's might get done this
month, if the printer has time. This is a holiday month & he has
vacation plans. He definitely wants to see all playfields finished
this winter, after almost 2 year's of not much activity. Please
understand there was alot of stuff going on personally & work related
with both of us.
There is some interesting things in technology that we will try after
Sorcerer & Space Shuttle backlog is done. But for now its time for me
to start preparing playfields for the color span. So as a few get
done, off to the printer, & finished. This will happen over the winter
months & I will enjoy my summer playing golf when I can.
