I have a 64K sound file I want to put on a M27512 chip I have erased
it.
Do I just program it on the chip or do I need to fill the chip?
What if you have a 512 file and you want to program it on a M27C4001
chip. I know how to use the programmer just fine.
Sorry for the basic questions but this is new to me.

You're best bet when using a chip that is 2 or 4 (or more) times the
size of the image you want to burn is to repeat the image to fill the
chip.

If a board expects a chip of a certain size, it may not provide valid
signals for the higher order address lines. By repeating the image,
the same data will be found in the chip regardless of the signal
levels detected on the higher lines.

If you have the MCUMall programmer, use the "combine buffer" function
enough times to create a full chip. In both of your cases, that is 8
copies.

But a 64k file on a 27c4001 chip - the 64k file goes on a 28 pin chip and
the 512k chip has 32 pins. It may not be compatible depending on what board
it's being put on - most boards that require a 64k file only have 28 pin
sockets?

I have a Batman forever with three sound Roms
U-7 eprom 27C512 image 64K
U17 eprom 27C4001 image 512K
U21 eprom 27C4001 image 512K
Do I need to fill the eprom or just copy the images on the eproms?
The CPU C5 eprom 27C515 image 64K (I just copied it on a new eprom and
it works fine)

You would put U7 on a 27c512
U17 and U21 on 27c4001s

They are the correct size for the chips, no need to copy any images,
combine, etc.
