to help finance the possible purchase of my holy grail machine,
Monster Bash. I love the WW, it's one of my favorite games ever,
maybe, in the grand scheme of things, my number one of all time. But
I've played it for years, and the stars have kind of aligned for me to
get an MB (there's a nice one local, got money from Christmas, bonus
from work, birthday, etc.). So I was thinking maybe it's time to let
her go.
I played WW for the first time in about a week today, and was
wondering, "What else is there for me to do on the game?" Lo and
behold, I had my best game ever, annihilating my previous high score
by over 10M. I hit 50M, got the air raid combo, super cellar,
multiple Million Plus shots. About the only thing I didn't achieve
was closing the skyway (was within I think 7 or so of doing it).
Going to sleep on it again, but I think I'm finally going to sell it.
A great machine, plays really fast, has upgrades, so whoever gets it
will be very happy. Just think it's finally time.

Just curious, what upgrades did you do?
I'm a more recent owner of a WW and really have "just" got it running
all right (a board repair, flipper rebuilds). The pf is clearcoated,
the cabinet near mint, new plastics, protectors, definitely a
collector piece, IMHO. I still have to learn the rules and really get
into the game...
Anyway, however you choose, good luck.

Wasn't familiar with Pinscore. Just checked out the website. I'll take
a good look at mine, but think it's just fine.
What subwoofer did you use? Pinball Pro? I have it on only one pin -
my TZ and it sounds amazing. I can imagine the WW would sound real
sweet with a sound upgrade.

That always happens when I go to play a 'last' game on a machine I'm
selling/thinking of selling. I clean it well for the sale, take the
pics, then I play a game, and I either get the high score or find that I
had waited too long to clean it previously and the reason I was
contemplating selling it is because it was playing slow....
So far it has stopped me from selling my firepower. One of the problems
is that I really, really, really, need the space back. I have 5 or 6
machines underneath other machines that I'd rather have set up and
playing.....

Yes, it's a Pinball Pro sub. When you crank it, it's very cool
indeed!

I sold mine. Great game, one of Lawlor's best (after Funhouse and
Family Guy). After 2-3 years, I figured it was time for someone else
to enjoy it. I may pick up another one when CPR does the playfield.

I agree with Fred. I also think you are making a mistake. Not
because you want to buy a Monster Bash. More because of the thought
of selling a Whirlwind in excellent condition. I've owned mine for
several years as well and I have no doubt that selling it would just
lead me to seeking out another down the road. There is something
about that game that keeps me coming back. I'd put its LONG TERM
enjoyment in the home (staying power) above that of a Monster Bash,
without even considering the much more reasonable price for a
Whirlwind.

I also agree with Fred, not so much because it is WW or you're looking
for a MB. You mention WW being one of your favorite machines. Why part
with it? Find some other way to raise the cash (easier said than done,
but it is possible). If WW really is one of your favorite games,
you'll eventually regret it. You'll hit a point with MB where you say,
"This is fun, but damn...a game of WW right now would be really great
as well".
I understand the idea of having "enh" titles to eventually trade out
for something you really want, but it sounds more like you're trading
one "want" for another "want". :P
