Replace OP amp. Look in the book for where it is located.
I don't know if Playboy is the same, but my Bally Special Force has
two volume controls. One at the coin door, and one on the sound board.
The pots seem to be ok. No dead spots or other obvious problems.

Which one? I'm looking at the schematics here:

and it looks to me like there are two op amps in the output stage of the
circuit. Which one are you referring to?

Yeah, you'd expect that, but Playboy doesn't have a coin door area volume
pot, just the one on the sound board itself.

Not yet. I was out of town for a couple of weeks. I'll post a followup
when I get the opamp replaced.

Ok, sorry for the *really* late reply here, but I did want to follow up
and close this thread. I changed the 741, and the volume improved. It's
still not all that loud, but it's ok.

Did you try and replace the 380 as well? I am having the same issue.
