TOM 1.4H security chip or not?

I was told that there is a 1.4H chip that does not require the
security chip?

There is a firmware version that will allow ANY WPC security chip to
be used, but it still requires a security chip to be installed. A
number of game features are controlled by the pic chip.

part of the switch matrix is handled
by the security PIC. unless we're
talking about two different things here.

I've owned 2 theatre of magic's and both were installed with 1.4x rom.
Both did not need any special security chip. You need to get tom
callahan's motor and wire it correctly to the back box and to a power
source under the pinball machine.
Believe me when I tell you, it does not need the security chip, just
the proper wiring. People have played my theatre of magics and can
vouch that my tiger saw works flawlessly.

My ToM is stripped down now or I'd test this. Just to make sure; when
you say 'security chip' you are talking about U22 on the CPU board?
You are running with no chip in that socket at all? You must be
running a CPU ROM modified with anypic?
