Nice job Ed! I use Sharpies quite often on playfields for minor
touch-up. They make an assortment of colors that blend perfectly
sometimes.

Hah, eagle eye.

No, we (kids and I) have started to put a prop on the lockdown bar for
each of the pins. The old WWII bomber for the IJ, a very accurate
miniature rendition of the Shuttle on my Space Shuttle, etc. I forgot
that we started to do that.

Looks sharp! And the dithering doesn't really matter if you like the

Looking at his web page, he has done all his own work on his Space
Shuttle and Indiana Jones. Saved money by printing his own decals,
cleared his own playfield with spray can clear and has a great
attitude! He get's a "two thumbs up" a nomination nod from me! ;-)

I have to be totally honest and say I about had a heart attack from
some of the "repairs" made on your IJ site :-) Glued drop target,
Sharpied cabinet, retrofitted motor, etc. While I totally respect
being on a budget, this is a $3000 Indiana Jones, not a $200 EM. A 78'
Chevy Nova is fine to take to Earl Schieb for a paint job, but a 1993
Ferrari?

That said...although this totally clashes with my style of restoration
(I'm totally ANTI-Sharpie, ANTI glue broken stuff, ANTI-McGuyver-style
repairs) on my own machines, I have to say it's pretty cool that you're
passionate about fixing up the machines & pinball in general.
That's what it's all about :)

No offense taken, but...

On the glued drop target:
As stated, that was a temporary so that we could play the machine while
the target was on order. I really LIKE trying stuff like this, and if
a few hours work brings the machine back on-line (instead of waiting a
few days), hey why not?

On the Sharpie'd cabinet:
Due to my expertise, I do not think I am able to tackle the redecal of
the whole cabinet. It is reversable by washing with alcohol. So no
permanent change there.

Retrofitted motor:
If the motor fits, why not use it. I know Marcos has them for $73, but
I could not resist the Radio Shack $3 version. Also, a authentic one
can be purchased and put in at any time. I did not make a permanent
change.

I liken it to generic parts that I can obtain locally and can use on my
machine (like bolts). Why purchase the more expensive version when
the lesser cost one will work. You will see that rarely my repairs or
mods are permanent (I certainly can't think of any right now). If it
stands the test of time and rigor of use, I do not think it is a
McGiver fix.

Guys,
I've been waiting to be nominated to be a CARGPB since I got on
the board some time ago. I've been through 11 games now, although my
collection only has 4 in it. Where did the other 7 go you ask? Those
were ones I acquired, fixed up, cleaned up, and then traded/sold up to
bigger and better titles. (Or at least ones that I wanted more.) I've
installed a 3rd magnet on a TZ in the past (and past on the forstner
bit for another cheapo to use). What do I need to do? If Shapie-ing a
cabinet is the ticket, I'll do it.....I swear! :-)
