In addition to the Robby, Hallmark released a small Twilight Zone TV
this year. I had the thought of incorporating a small digital photo
keychain into it to simulate a miniature TV. I think the results were
quite nice.

This mod produced the most twist and turns in terms of problems
encountered of any mod I have had:

That is just WAY too cool! For us less-than-handy-making-cool-mods-
guys is there any chance someone would make one of these to sell (to
me)? ;-)

Nice job!

That's madness Ed! Madness!!!

I've seen people sticking those goofy little TV's on TZ's and TAFs for
awhile and suddenly you come up with a way to make it awesome. Great
job!

Very cool, especially for the money outlay.
I wonder what other machines that keychain screen could be used on for
a mod?
A little drive-in screen for Creature.
Basically any TV-themed pin? that's a bunch.
Go from B&W to color pictures on DE Time machine?

Clever use of an inexpensive resource Ed.

That is a good question. Another idea I had was to add that to my
MM. I would replace the princess plastic (inside her castle tower on
the right) with it, and animate the princess.

I like your idea for Creech.

I have gotten so many requests by e-mail(!), and have decided to
consider making a few more. The hard part is deciding how much my
time is worth. So many projects.

Send me an e-mail so I can contact you.

Thanks for the encouraging comments guys. This would not be so much
fun without you guys.

This is amazing Ed!

Would you consider getting boards etched so we don't have to breadboard
it? You could sell the boards to the DIY-ers...

An etched board would be a nice package, but when I think of how many
would sell, and the uncertainty of it working will types of keychain,
I think the time would be better spent hand wiring the power
conditioning circuit.

If you mean the Robby mods, those LEDs are mainly from parts I bought
over the years, and one is from pinbits.

If you mean the TV mod, the four LED sequencer was salvaged from my
son's toy. I only have one of those.

It neat but it's no Happy Meal toy.

Seriously Ed, that is some outstanding work. It's almost as if you're trying
to make pinball mods cool again.

:0)

Oh, how many pics can the unit hold? I was thinking for the creech one to
have stills from each scene in the movie progressing as long as the game
does.

Or you could have rudimentary stop-motion animation with it. Really neat
idea. Thanks for documenting the process.

This one holds 40 images. However, I saw other units that were 1.5"
diagonal (smaller screen) that held a lot more. So I would expect
with some looking you could find a bigger capacity one.

Yes, this idea could definitely be extended to embed images into other
items. It offers up some interesting possibilities.

My next major mod is for my WhirlWind! During multi ball mode, I turn
on a fire hose and hose down the player. Then, I pump in high voltage
onto the lockdown bar to simulate lightning. Finally, I pelt the
player with softball sized ice cubes for the hail. Who's up to come
and play at my place?

I have not bought LEDs at Shack, but if the packaging looks new, and
not 90s stuff, I would say that they would work. Advances in LEDs
have progressed rapidly, and if Shack bothers to package and sell
them, I presume they have access to the latest hot LEDs as everyone
else.
