Born of the minds of two evil and twisted wizards, Frontier began her life
in the spring of 1991. She was found on the doorstep of their dark castle
and brought into their lair. Not content to leave well enough alone, the
two wizards destroyed her psyche and recreated it to their liking, shaping
it into something that was no longer her. When their butchering was done,
she was forced to serve herself to anyone who would come calling.
Frontier began to resent everyone who used her. Incessant connections at
all hours, maintenance on her most private codebits by insensitive wizards,
the constant din of chatting users. All of it took a toll on her and it
began to show.
She was svelte at first: lean codebase, little excess, and all LPC. Her
initial growth was remarkable and many came to see what she had to offer.
But now, after years of being fed expansive code and heavy upgrades, many
of them benefiting only her users, she ballooned to over 6500 rooms. She
was angry and wanted revenge.
So, in the deep darkness of night, she sent out child processes to the host
machine. She infiltrated the innermost levels of the machine and formed
from her own essence a daemon spawn that would make her presence known. And
feared. The daemon spawn lurked, waiting for an opportunity to latch on to
a message bound for the outside world, like some hideous ethereal parasite.
Her moment came. An automated event to announce her availability was due
to trigger in nanoseconds. As the script ran, her daemon awoke and wrote
over the last of the outbound packets before kill -9'ing itself without a
trace. She had succeeded. The message would recombine itself at its
intended destination and it would only be a matter of time befo#}#}#}#}
